FREMANTLE VOLUNTEER CENTRE JULY 2014 OPPORTUNITIES NEW AND URGENT POSITIONS The Town of East Fremantle Neighbourhood Link are in need of volunteers at their centre in East Fremantle: Do you have a passion for arts and crafts? Are you enthusiastic with excellent communication skills? Volunteer as an Arts and Craft Leader! In this role you’ll be guiding seniors in the production of a variety of individual and group art projects, using various methods e.g. painting, collage and mosaic. You will be well supported by the centres Activity officer and with guidance take a lead in the running of a monthly activity program (51543). If music is more your passion the centre are looking for a Music Therapist to lead a group of seniors to explore a variety of music styles and sounds through singing and using musical instruments (51916). Vinnies Retro Fremantle are looking for energetic volunteers who enjoy working with people and have a friendly, positive attitude. You can visit them in store or call Simone on 9335 6890. Would you like to improve the quality of life for residents in aged care facilities? Those who have limited family and social contact are at risk of isolation from the general community. Melville Cares Inc need Community Visitors to regularly (minimum once per fortnight) visit residents in nursing homes or hostels (49838). Braemar Presbyterian Care in Palmyra require aged care volunteers for a variety of roles such as Providing conversation, companionship and support to Braemar residents, assisting in social activities and organised events and contributing a special talent of interest to residents such as music, arts, crafts, storytelling (51923). Do you have a few hours spare on a Saturday evening (5.45-9pm) to support the Fremantle PCYC Street Ball Project? If you are interested in youth and assisting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and have a current Working with Children and National Police Check, the PCYC have a number of positions they are looking to fill (37228). EVENT VOLUNTEERING Make a difference and support disadvantaged children from the community to have enjoyable holiday experiences with Kids Camp Inc. As Leader you will to assist in providing recreational respite care for children and their families. Ongoing training and debriefing will be provided. Willingness to undergo appropriate background/child protection checks is essential (52050). Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer is back on 18 th and 19th October when thousands of riders will cycle 200+ km from Victoria Park to Pinjarra benefitting the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research. As they embark, during and at the end of this epic event they’ll need help. Crew members are required to set up camp, serve food and be part of pit stop and gear teams (8383). Massage Therapists are needed to help the tired, sore and stressed riders alleviate aching muscles (35207).
