the earliest, shortest, and most farcical plays of William Shake-speare's career. Two sets of twins endure a montage of mistaken identities and a series of encounters with un-usual characters, re-sulting in one wacky,

magical comedy. The show is suitable for all ages and features local ac-tors be-tween the ages of 3 and 15. The Short Shake-

speareans were founded by We-natchee’s Sherry Chastain Schreck, who directed for the first 34 years.

The Short Shake-speareans will open their 36th season at the Riverside Play-house with The Com-edy of Errors, directed by Kelly Atwood. In her second year of heading up the troupe, Atwood has quite a few mu-sical treats up her sleeve for audi-ences grown accus-tomed to this summer chil-dren’s theatre staple, including tap danc-ing sirens, a piano-playing character dubbed Play-it-Again-Sam, dancing nuns and mixed up lovers who happen to be identical twins.

Shows are August 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16 at 7:00 with matinees beginning at 2 p.m. on Aug. 9 and 16. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for sen-iors, $8 for children 12 and under and may be purchased at the

our annual BBQ on Sunday, August 24, from 4

-6 pm. As always, we will have food and enter-

tainment. We strongly encourage you to come

Set in the late 1970s, 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. Outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic, 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL is about teaming up and taking care of business.

MTW will be presenting 9 to 5: The Musical this October. That means that auditions are just around the corner. We are looking for 10 women and 6 men to make this great musical come to life.

9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL, with music and lyrics by Dolly Par-ton and book by Patricia Res-nick, is based on the 1980 hit movie Nine to Five.

Pushed to the boiling point by their boss, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotisti-

cal, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. They conspire to take control of their company and learn there's nothing they can't do -- even in a man's world.

In the Fall, Stage Kids will be holding

after school classes at the PAC and begin

rehearsals for “Annie”, which will per-

form at the Riverside Playhouse Dec. 4-7.

Stage Kids WA has launched in the

Wenatchee Valley with 40 children

participating in the camp for children 4

-7 years old, which included scenes

and songs from “The Jungle Book”.

Over 200 people attended their two

mini-showcases held at the Riverside

Playhouse!

Stage Kids is a non-profit community

theatre program which develops and

nurtures young people's potential

through classes, workshops and per-

formances. The staff encourages crea-

tivity and delivers quality performing

arts training for both the beginner and

the experienced performer. There is an

emphasis on life skills such as respon-

sibility, confidence, teamwork and cre-

ating new friendships.

How is Stage Kids WA different? Of-

ten, the success of a show is deter-

mined by the number of tickets sold or

the overall presentation. At Stage Kids,

the process is just as important (if not

MORE important!) than the performance,

so the emphasis is on challenging and

growing the children.

Michelle McCormick founded Stage Kids

California in response to the question,

"Where do we go for more?" After direct-

ing musicals for a school district for 5

years, with the desire for kids to develop

and not just perform, she founded Stage

Kids CA in Fall 2010. She has been mar-

ried for over 29 years and has 2 grown

sons. She and her husband moved to We-

natchee last year and she is excited to be-

gin working with the children in our com-

munity.

“Ever After” is the show title for the Au-

gust 11-22 production camp for ages 8-13.

During this camp, kids will sing, dance,

act and work on production teams to cre-

ate an enjoyable show for the public on

Aug. 22 & 23 at the Riverside Playhouse.
