JULY 2016 BUCKEYE BREEZE Mary, Mary, quite contrary how does your garden grow? Let me share with you our garden is already starting to grow! I can say what an AWESOME feeling it is having completed our recent State Convention and we have already started to “PLANT a SEED for the FOE”. The first thing I would like to do is make sure I thank everyone and the list is long but without all the support of these people many things would not have gotten done. The first is to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended the convention. Next, thank you to everyone who donated food for the party room, worked the party room, and handed out gifts or did raffles. I am also so appreciative of everyone who donated monies as I rode the goat from SEZ which helped me to raise $145 for my special charity, Sara’s Garden, in Wauseon, OH. I also want to thank those that served on my Installing Team, Past State Presidents Judy Sanders, Faye Baum, Barb Stull, and Mary Hornsby. Also thank you to the escort team that consisted of my family and friends. I was truly humbled and honored to have two Past Grand Madam Presidents at my installation, Pat Lazenby- Loe from Utah and Roxanne Alley McGovern from Florida. Thank you to Maggie Scanlon, Past Madam State President from Michigan for coming down to the “Great State of Ohio” to be a part of our convention. I want to thank everyone who participated in the presentation of my theme. It was a real treat to see so many flowers, hear the wind chimes, see the costumes and watch the HOE! Last but not least I want to thank Rick Metzger for doing my presentation. I want to remind everyone that Rick will be our guest speaker at out Ladies Banquet next year. I am looking forward to working side by side with Randy this year as we “Get R Done” as we “Plant a Seed for the FOE”. Randy is going to have to work really hard to win our challenge of 3 to 1 for charities. Just a reminder Randy . . . . you cannot take any more of our ladies!!! Randy, I can’t wait to receive that crisp $100 bill from you!! I am looking forward to my first visit as your new Madam State President. I will be at the District #3 meeting on July 10; looking forward to seeing a lot of my Sisters at that meeting. I am also very excited and proud to have the honor to get to carry the flag of the Great State of OHIO at the International Convention in Reno on Monday, July 18. I am looking forward to seeing many of my Sisters there and sharing and learning from all of them. We are off to a great start with our flower garden. But the work is just starting and I look forward to working side by side with my officer team as well as all my Sisters to make this year the biggest and most beautiful year as we watch the seeds we plant bloom and grow – just like the Auxiliary will continue to do – GROW and BLOOM! FINAL GAME PLANS FROM COACH GWEN

Wow! It came and went so fast! My year as your Madam State President is one of the best years of my life. I really don’t know where to start thanking everyone for the hard, dedicated work they did to make our fraternal year so fantastic. The District Leaders for all the new members they signed up, way to go girls. The Charity chairmen who totally surprised me with all the money they made for so many charities, especially the Fisher House in Dayton for our Veterans, $35,000. God Bless you Sisters! The Earle and Jean Bruce Alzeimer’s fund, $20,000, and Sisters the money we gave the Aerie for all the charities, $47,000. Do we have a right to brag, you bet we do; Thank You from the bottom of my heart. Sue Vandenbroek, thank you for the fine job you did at convention; what would I have done without you. Joyce Richards, Roxann McCain, and Judy Curtis, I can never thank you all enough for getting me to the convention and then watching over me for 11 days; you are truly Eagle Sisters. I feel like the open door policy I had at convention put me back on the track to recovery; each and every one of you that stopped by and said “hello” or just sat down to chat for a while, helped me more than you will ever know. So as my year closes, and State President Sue’s begins, let’s all give our support and love to Sue and fill her garden with lots of flowers. I will not be going to Grand Convention because of my health, but I’m sure you all will do Ohio Proud. Did I spell that right or is it HO? We will never forget you, Penny Skinner. It was a great honor to have so many Past Grand Madam Presidents at our convention, and our Michigan ECR President, Linda. As I sign off with my last newsletter, let me instill in each of you to always be thankful for what you have, especially family and friends. I love each and every one of you. I will be seeing some of you in the SWZ for Zone Conference and everyone else at Leadership. Until then, one last big OH IO and go Bucks! Retired Head Coach, Gwen
