Summer Reading Kick-OffThe library kicked off its 2017 Summer Reading Program on Monday, June 26, with an interactive concert by Two of a Kind.
Later in the afternoon, children visited the library to “Build a Better Ice Cream Sundae.”
The dogs and cats from FURever as Friends will be in
the library to listen to children read on July 6 and 20 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. On the
20th, we’ll have a Dog Days of Summer Party with snacks for everyone. S.M.I.L.E. is open to everyone. Please call or visit
the library to register your child.
Children ages 6–10 can Build with Us on Friday, July 14 and
28, at 2:15 p.m.Princes and princesses ages 3–10 can join us for a Royal
Ball on Wednesday, July 19, at 10:15 a.m. or 2:15 p.m.
Come to the library on July 26 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. for
Truck Night. No registration is required.
On Sunday, July 30, we’ll celebrate Beatrix Potter’s
birthday with a Happy Birthday Beatrix Potter Party! Children
ages 3–9 can join us at 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., or
3:30 p.m. for fun activities to celebrate the author of the
Peter Rabbit books.Mrs. Kramer has many more
activities planned throughout the month. Please check our
website or pick up a calendar in the library to see all the

Teens and tweens can combine their required or recommended summer reading for school with the library’sWorld Building Book Bingo. Teens and tweens ages 11–18 can read 5 books and fill in our special bingo card to receive a prize and be entered into a drawing for a special grand prize.Bingo cards and details are available in the Teen Area of the library.

July is National Make a Difference to Children Month. Here at the Heggan Library, we strive to make a difference to children every single day of the year! This month, though, we have displayed books and other materials that are especially useful to caregivers and other adults who are trying to make a difference in the lives
of children. Along with enjoying the display, please have fun guessing the staff members from their childhood photos! Sheila Mikkelson
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of T.R. Salvadori, a librarian for twenty-two years who retired in 2013. T.R. worked in the Cataloging and Processing Department. During his long library career, he also worked in the Waterford Library, McCowan Library, Glassboro Library, Rowan University Library, and the Monroe Twp. Library. T.R. earned his MS in Information Science from Drexel University in 1990. He was responsible for converting the card catalog to a computerized database.
