Promise and Reward for Sacrificial Generosity
“But my God shall supply [satisfy] all your need according to his riches in glory
by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
Good morning and welcome to Hillsdale. The conclusion of a sermon series in a book of the Bible stirs within me a note of both sadness and
rejoicing. Sadness because we leave a beloved passage of verse-by-verse study, but rejoicing, for my soul has been enriched as we harvested a wealth of spiritual truths and applications in our corporate study of God’s Word.
Today marks the conclusion of our study of Paul’s epistle to the Philippians, and we are reminded of the apostle’s love for the church and his debt of gratitude for their sacrifices and financial care of him. While the “Prosperity Gospel” and “Name It, Claim It” crowd have abused the saints with their misinterpretation of truths; nevertheless, we dare not forget that God honors and rewards sacrificial generosity. I pray today’s study will stir your hearts with its truths and your affections for those who serve you.
I try to avoid “back-to-back missionaries” in our evening services; however, this Sunday is the exception as we welcome our missionaries to Spain, Luis and Sharla Gutierrez. Several years have passed since the Gutierrez’s have been with us, and we look forward to a report on their ministry in Spain in our 6:00 pm service.
Finding a Conestoga covered wagon sitting in the lobby and the comfortable leather sofas displaced gives you a hint of the magnitude and importance Hillsdale places on our annual Vacation Bible School outreach. The week ahead, Monday-Friday, July 8-12, (9:00 am - 12:00 noon), presents an “all hands-on deck” ministry opportunity as Pastor Peterman leads our VBS. Reminder: We will not have a mid-week, Wednesday evening service this week.
While you are traveling this summer, don't forget you are able to give online at www.hillsdalebaptist.org and continue your regular support of our ministry
while away.
