Rose Hill Park Opensthis SummerIn partnership withFrederick CountyParks andRecreationDepartment, theMSV will open anew public park onthe Museum’s RoseHill property thissummer. Rose HillPark will feature a1.25-mile walkingtrail, eight newinterpretive signstelling the site’sCivil War story, restrooms, and a parking lot. A so opening of RoseHill Park is anticipated to take place in July with formal openingevents to follow in the fall. A makerspace is opening at the MSV in September! Amakerspace is a community center that engages children,families, and adults in STEAM (Science, Technology,Engineering, Art, and Math) through innovative, hands-onlearning experiences. e new MSV Makerspace is located in theformer café and in the BB&T Learning Center. Much more than a make-and-take activity center, the MSVMakerspace will provide Shenandoah Valley residents a chanceto apply problem-solving skills, test, and revise their ideas,experiment, collaborate, and have fun. e MSV Makerspacewill include electric wheels for throwing pottery, a kiln for firingceramics, robotics kits, and a 3D printer. Get a sneak peek of the MSV Makerspace! From 10 a.m. to4 p.m. during the July 16 Glen Burnie Day event, the MSV willhost an open house in the new makerspace.Beginning Sunday, September 11, the MSV Makerspace will beopen to the public. e makerspace will be open on Tuesdaysfrom 4 to 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.Admission is $10 per adult and $5 per child (up to age 18) pervisit. New MSV Logoe MSV has unveiled a new logo to herald its plan to expand as anart park! e MSV is now entering the next phase of its Master Planand plans to open 90 additional acres of its landscape with theinstallation of three miles of hiking, biking, and walking trailsenhanced by imaginative garden structures and outdoor artinstallations. e new logo graphic was inspired by the eight-point starmotif that is commonly featured in regional decorative arts, such astextiles, furniture, and folk art. e blue and green colors of the logorepresent the Valley’s natural beauty, while the curving line in itscenter evokes both the Shenandoah River and the miles of paths thatare now planned for the MSV landscape. His work becamesynonymous with the international Art Nouveau style,popularly called le style Mucha in Paris. With a focus on theworks created during the 1890s, this exhibition shows acreative man exploring possibilities when the emphasiswas on defining a new art, fit for the new century. Enjoy vintage lithographs, original drawings, paintings,books, advertising ephemera, and more. Works andobjects in this exhibition are drawn from the holdings ofthe Dhawan Collection, Los Angeles, one of the largestand finest private collections of Alphonse Mucha’s workin the United States.
