Travel NZ……..
Sue’s Chatter
As I write this June is just about gone and after the shortest day we are now heading to summer! It was great to catch up with the 20 people who met to enjoy some
delicious food at Rangoli Restaurant in Paraparaumu yesterday. We
had a new lady attend, to see if she would like to join us. I had
thought that with no foreseeable overseas journeys that we would
place our member recruitment on hold but I have had 3 enquiries in
the last week so I think we should continue on with recruitment in
some cost efficient ways.
At the LEO lunch I was privileged to present Jill Paterson with her
Friendship Force Badge. We all hope you will enjoy fun, travel and
find warm fellowship amongst us. I still have 3 more badges to
present to other members at our next event Soup Lunch.
The SOUP LUNCH is a great fellowship time. Please check out the Friendship Force clubs
around the world on the FFI website to see where you might like to visit as we need to advise
FFI our future travel request. This travel will be allocated for 2022. We hold a short meeting to
discuss member’s ideas and we do need to revisit a donation to FFI. New Zealand members
(76) and Clubs (12) donated $28,420 to help keep FFI, Australia donated $35,000. In total FFI
raised $300,000. There will be a couple of short surveys we have been asked to do also by
our Field Reps. A GOOD attendance is requested.
The annual NUTS and BOLTS day has also been advised to be on Saturday 22nd August.
This is always held in Fielding and it is a meeting of the local FF groups in the lower North
Island. For new members it’s a good way to hear about what we as FF do and they always
have a great Speaker. Our club won the Nuts and Bolts Trophy last year. I would like to see a
good attendance by our club this year. For new members it’s another way to get to know
some of our club members too as we car pool. Please let me know if you will be attending as
numbers are required for catering. Sue 0274 385 143.
Because of Covid-19 we have notified FFI that we would not be participating in any inward or
outward journeys until travel is deemed to be safe for our members. I hope you have read
about the New Zealand journeys we are being encouraged to travel on in the mean time.
There is a FFNZ South Island potential Journey Oct/Nov 2020. You need to register with
[email protected] to receive additional information. It should be a great trip for those of
you who would like to visit further south of Christchurch. Please note it may clash with our trip
to New Plymouth.
We have been asked to be part of a FFNZ North Island journey perhaps early Feb 2021. The
Board has thoughts to do a couple of club to club hostings, some weekend trips perhaps, and
also a catch up with clubs who are close to us for a brunch and a visit somewhere. We can
discuss any other ideas at the Soup Lunch. If you would be happy to help organise any local
trips please let us know and we could form a small group of willing helpers.
It seems some of you have already been away to visit family and friends. Please post on out
Kapiti Friendship Force Face Book page or the NZFF Facebook page pictures and where you
have been. We have other overseas clubs who like our page and who enjoy seeing our beautiful
country.

Domestic Journeys – from Graham Wigley our FF Field Representative.
ON THE MOVE
Many clubs are now planning Domestic Journeys. In addition other NZ only journeys/Tours are being organised. First off the ranks will be ; FFNZ SOUTH ISLAND TOUR
This will be an 8 day bus tour and is being planned for early November 2020. Organiser Heather Ponder South Island Field Rep [email protected] Heather will keep us posted on this trip. There is already great interest.
NZ FARMING JOURNEY Journey in the early planning stages with the possible dates February 28 – March 20. On this trip you will learn about many different aspects of NZ farming together with the joy of home hosting. Field Rep Graham Wigley [email protected] Graham will keep us posted on this trip.
FFNZ NORTH ISLAND TOUR Our Field Rep co-ordinator Debbie Lattey is planning this trip . It will possibly involve three clubs hosting in the lower North Island area. More news on this trip to come. So within NZ Friendship Force is up and running again where we can enjoy the benefits of our own country and make new Kiwi friends.
A North Island journey open to all members, incorporating whichever clubs are keen to host. We could charter a private bus, and if we get more numbers than clubs can host, then we could include some motel stays. The summer months would be a good time for this journey. We are asking North Island clubs to let us know if they would be interested in hosting.
Outward Journey to New Plymouth 6th – 10th November Journey No. 20422

THE FRIENDSHIP FORCE PLEDGE
As a member of the Friendship Force I recognise that I can make a difference.
I recognise that I have a mission.
That mission is to be a friend to the people of the world.
As I embark on this adventure I know that others will be watching me.
I know that through my example to my fellow citizens and people of other countries,
the cause of peace and friendship can be furthered.
I can make a difference.
