The Yankee Classic DanceSport Championships ® began in 1990 as a one day Amateur and Pro-Am/Teacher-Student event. It expanded to incorporate the Professional divisions in 1992. Championship status was granted by the NDCA in 1993.

Since that time the Yankee Classic has grown to become one of the most prestigious and highly regarded events on the USA’s calendar. The Yankee Classic is proud to present some of the world’s best dancers at our event.

The Yankee Classic has been nominated as one of the three best events in the USA for the North American Dance Awards. In 2006 JOHN & CATHI NYEMCHEK joined The Yankee Classic as ORGANIZERS.

Once again, this year sees us returning to the pretty Marriott-Cambridge Center, the perfect jumping off spot to see the town.

COLLEGIATE: This special package for active college students is priced at $90 and includes the following: Sunday admission into the Ball room for two people and eight (8) Sunday entries of their choice. For additional partners add $30 (e.g. One man dancing with two ladies would be $120, with three ladies $150, etc.) For additional entries over eight (8), add $10 per entry (e.g. For 10 entries—1 partner, total would be $110). AIRPORT INFORMATION Airport of choice is Boston Logan International, which is just 5 minutes from the Marriott-Cambridge Center. Pick up a taxi from the Taxi

Starter outside and ask for the Marriott Cambridge Center. The average taxi fare is between $18-$25 depending on the time of your arrival. There are several Marriott Hotels in Boston so be sure to specify Marriott Cambridge Center.

HOTEL BOOKINGS Rooms may be booked directly with the Marriott Hotel or with the organizers. In either case you will receive the

Yankee Classic convention room rate per night plus tax, if booked before our deadline. CALL the Marriott Cambridge Center directly at 617 494-6600, BE SURE TO REQUEST THE YANKEE CLASSIC RATE. Alternatively, you may call us at 845 268-6368 and receive the same rate. Please be prepared to provide a credit card to guarantee your room reservation. Cancellations for hotel reservations must be

DanceSport Championships® Rules & Regulations




The Yankee Classic & New England DanceSport Championships ® is sanctioned by the National Dance Council of America and is run under its rules and regulations. All participants are obliged to adhere by the

Official Rules published by the NDCA which can be found in the official NDCA rulebook.

Both Professional and Amateur couples are required to be registered with the NDCA in order to take part in NDCA events.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

All written requests for refunds will be considered 60 days following the event to allow for the processing of the master hotel bill.

PACKAGES Cancellations in writing and received before May 5th will be charged a cancellation fee of $100 per package.

Cancellations in writing and received between May 5th & May 10th will be charged a cancellation fee of $150 per package. Cancellations in writing received after May 10th will be charged $250.

Cancellations received postmarked June 1st or after WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. Cancellations received at the event WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.

ENTRY FEES Entries canceled before May 10th will receive a credit for our next years event.

Credits are not transferable and must be used the following year. Emergency Health issues will receive a credit for next years event.

Entries canceled after May 10th cannot be refunded. Entries canceled at the event can not be used by another student.

ADVANCED TICKETS Advance Tickets cannot be refunded or credited.

DRESS CODE

AMATEUR NOVICE Closed Syllabus Divisions:

Bronze, Silver, Gold and Open Level Syllabus divisions in both International and American Styles may wear costumes, however it is not required.

Open Novice Divisions: Costumes are encouraged.

PRO-AM and STUDENT-STUDENT Competition attire should be worn by competitors whenever possible.

WHAT TO WEAR? Where costumes are not worn~You should wear:

Ladies~cocktail or suitable dress, and Gentlemen~dark suit, tuxedo, dance vest, or sweater jacket

DanceSport Championships® Junior Rules & Regulations




The Yankee Classic DanceSport Championships ® is a National Dance Council of America recognized event and is run under its rules and regulations. All participants are obliged to adhere by the Official Rules published by the NDCA which can be found in the official NDCA rulebook.

Juvenile, Pre-Teen, Junior and Youth couples are required to be registered with the NDCA in order to take part in NDCA events.

DEADLINE All Junior Entries and Fees should be received by the Deadline. All entries received by the deadline will receive a Confirmation.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY Only written cancellations due to illness will be honored.

Cancellations due to illness will be given a credit towards next years event. Cancellations received at the event will not receive a credit.

CHANGES Any entry changes on the day of the competition MUST BE MADE at least 1 HOUR before the heat is to be danced.

All changes are subject to the approval of the Chairman of Judges and must be made with our Registrar. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.

NOTE IN ALL CLOSED DIVISIONS~ FIGURES MUST be DANCED WITHIN THE FRAME WORK OF THE SYLLABUS. Invigilators will be used for all CLOSED syllabus Divisions ~ Couples committing infractions

will first be warned by the Invigilator, if no corrections are made it will result in being placed last. If your students routines have any form of choreography other than syllabus figures please enter them in the OPEN categories.

*** JUVENILE AND PRE-TEEN COSTUME RULES *** Please note we have both CLOSED and OPEN Juvenile and Pre-Teen Divisions.

*** JUNIOR OPEN SINGLES *** This is a category for Juniors without regular dance partners.

The single boy or girl in this category will be being judged, they will not be judged as a couple. Please make sure you place an (OS) next to the open singles name. Also all partners names must be listed, entries will not be excepted without both partners names.

The boy will wear the number. CASH AWARD will be GIVEN to the TOP 3 “JUNIOR OPEN SINGLE PARTNERS”

ON DECK AREA We will have an ON DECK area for the children to be in waiting to compete.

ALL JUNIORS MUST USE THIS AREA TO ENTER and EXIT THE DANCE FLOOR. We cannot rerun heats for couples ~ please have your couples in this area 30 minutes prior to their heat. PLEASE NOTE: this area is not

for parents. We will allow one (1) teacher per studio in this area to help make sure their students are ready. This area should not be used as a viewing area for teachers.

JUNIOR STUDIO OWNERS If you have 5 Junior Couples participating in our event on “SUNDAY” your Sunday admission into the Ballroom is FREE!!

Please note: one (1) owner per studio. PLEASE SEE CATHI FOR YOUR SUNDAY ADMISSION PASS!

VIDEO CAMERA and DIGITAL CAMERAS WITH VIDEO CAPABILITY WILL BE ALLOWED ON “SUNDAY ONLY” Video Taping at any other time is NOT ALLOWED. We reserve the right to take video tapes and or digital cards.

We also reserve the right to have security remove any persons not adhering to our video policy. Admission will not be refunded to anyone removed from the ballroom for not adhering to our video policies.
