Hello Kenny Families, It has been a great year at Kenny. We are still working hard and enjoying the great community that Kenny is all about. This week we have the carnival, shadow day with Armatage, and student of the month. I will also be making two trips to the Malt Shop with the students who signed up at March Magic. There are a number of staffing changes that are taking place. The candidates who have applied for Kenny positions have been outstanding. Twenty five teachers applied for our first grade position allowing us to interview the candidates with the strongest content knowledge and then use the interview to make sure the candidate possesses the personal characteristics we love to see at Kenny. As of today, this is where we stand: Tricia O’Donnell from Armatage will be a first grade teacher. Yau Stillone and Colleen Martel from the Hmong Academy have accepted the fifth grade positions. Mina Leierwood from Southwest High School has accepted the one day art position. (Continued on page 3)

Kenny Garden Summer Clean Up Sign Up

If you are interested in helping the Kenny School Gardens during the summer, now is your chance. There is a sign up on the large bulletin board across the hall from

the office where you can sign your family up to help care for one of the gardens during the summer. All it takes is to come over once a week and check over the garden and do some maintenance clean up. The gardens are very clean right now and if you stay on top of it now the job will stay easy all summer. Find another family to sign up with and either take turns or get together for a family evening in the garden and have a picnic. When signing up, please leave your email address and your phone number. Thanks for all your help in keeping Kenny a great place for our children to learn and grow.

Summer Reading If you were unable to attend the PTA meeting on May 11th, check out Dianne Kersteter’s PowerPoint presentation from that night. It has information on summer reading for your child as well as information on Destiny (the online catalog for the district) and on the wiki that was created for the Media classes here at Kenny. The Presentation is posted on the Kenny website under “Our Programs/Media”: http://kenny.mpls.k12.mn.us/Media.html Also, some local bookstores have summer reading programs where your child can earn a free book!
