JUNE 20, 2021– 12TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

From the Pastor’s Desk

The readings today center on God’s omnipotence and dominion over the

entire universe.

In the first reading, when Job complains to God for all the misfortunes that

have befallen him, God pointed out that He is Creator and Lord, with

ultimate power over the sea, the winds and all natural elements. God

wanted Job to understand that he has no right to argue with God nor

question His actions.

In seeing God’s power and greatness, Job withdrew his protests and

became submissive to God. We, too, encounter trials, difficulties and

sufferings seemingly greater than our ability to bear or solve. Like Job, our

first tendency is to complain to God. Let us remember, however, that God,

our Father, loves us and is always with us. His Divine Providence should

assure us that He is in control of everything that happens in this world and to each one of us. Every

little detail is part of the Divine Plan. Thus, let us ask God for the faith to see beyond the challenges

before us and with His help, the strength to go on. Remember that “,God works all things for the good

of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.” (Rom. 8:38)

In the Gospel the apostles are caught in a violent storm in the sea with Jesus who was sleeping. Filled

with fear, they decided to wake up Jesus who commanded the strong waves to be still. He then

questions the apostles about their weak faith.

Our lives at times replicate the situation of the apostles. Just this past year, our “boat”, that is, our lives

or our world, was tossed about by the waves and strong winds of health, financial, and emotional

storms. There seemed to be with no end in sight. God didn’t seem to care! How many of us thought He

was sleeping? At times like these, we are called to hold on to our faith. God loves us, more than we

can ever know or grasp. He is with us in our “boat”, in our lives. He is ever present even if our physical

eyes don’t see Him.

Problems and challenges will always be with us. But so will Jesus! Our omnipotent God is greater than

any problem or challenge we will ever encounter. All we have to do is to turn to Him in faith for He can

always command the storms in our lives to be: “Quiet! Be still!” Yes, all we have to do is faithfully focus

on Jesus, believe, and “give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His great love is everlasting.” (Ps.

107:1)

God bless you!

20 DE JUNIO 2021–DUODÉCIMO DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO

EL GRUPO DE PAREJA

La Sagrada familia les gustaria

informarles el grupo se reunen el 27

de Junio a las 3PM en el Madonna

Room. Todos quedan cordialmente

invitados.

¡A Dios no parecía importarle!

(Sal. 107: 1)

¡Dios te bendiga!
