STUDENTS NEWS / COMMUNITY SERVICES STUDENTS’ DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE MEETS The Chairman of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, Dr Goke Lalude has directed that the meeting of the Committee to decide various cases of indis- cipline leveled against some students comes up on Monday, 24 th June, 2012. About seventeen students of the University have been invited to appear before the panel to defend themselves on various cases of violations of University’s rules and regulations brought against them. According to the Coordinator of Students’ Affairs, Dr. L.S Akinola, three students have been invited in connec- tion with stealing but recovered laptop. Two are to appear before the panel in connection with examination malpractices in the just concluded second se- mester, 2012/2013 session examinations, while others have been invited in connection with offences ranging from absence during room checking, viola- tion of the University’s Dress Code and abuse of the hostel convenience. COUNCIL / MANAGEMENT NEWS PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT ON CAMPUS UPDATE In a bid to accommodate more students, the University has embarked on the capital projects within the last six months. These projects are a 500 bed- space students’ hostel and a multipurpose hall/office building. The projects are progressing as scheduled. It is hoped that by the time the projects are completed. They will give the University a face-lift. FOUNTAIN UNIVERSITY HOLDS POST UTME As advertised on the University website, the Post Unified Tertiary Matricula- tion Examination of the University holds on the 6 th July, 2013. All candidates that chose the University as their 1 st choice and 2 nd choice as well as those who did not choose the University but wish to change to this institution are eligible to apply and sit for the examination. FOUNTAIN UNIVERSITY BULLETIN Vol 01 No 03, JUNE, 2013 RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES / EVENTS VICE CHANCELLOR PAYS A VISIT TO A FRIEND OF THE UNIVERSITY In fulfilling one of the Quranic injunctions that Muslims should pay visit to the sick, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bashir Raji demonstrated the rare spirit of love for our neighbour recently by paying a sympathy visit to a woman of rare character who is always cheerful and greets everyone who pass through her shop. Allah said “If a man has visited the sick, he would have found Me with him. Allah (SWT) is close to the afflicted. The woman, a roadside petty trader along the University always wears a cheerful disposition, sending greetings to everyone as “salam alaikum” fell ill recently. The VC in observance of this injunction paid her a visit when he found out that the woman fell ill. The woman has since recovered and even paid a thank you visit to the Vice-Chancellor. RIGHT OF A MUSLIM FROM ANOTHER MUSLIM Tell him “Yara makallah” when and after he sneezes and says “Alhamdulillah” Respond when he says Taslim. Visit him when he is sick. Be kind to him when he is on a Journey. Honour his invitation when he invites you to his place/ceremony e.t.c Bury him when he dies by following the Islamic burial rites. ACADEMIC / STAFF NEWS SALAU AHMAD KAYODE BAGS HIS PH.D Dr Salau A.K of the Department of Chemical Science (Biochemistry and Nutri- tion Unit) has successfully defended his Ph.D in Biochemistry at University of Ilorin on June 4 th , 2013. We felicitate with you on this achievement and we pray Allah showers His blessing on it. CHEMICAL SCIENCES STUDENTS DEFENDS THEIR PROJECTS As part of requirements to bag B.Sc in Industrial and Environmental Chemis- try and Biochemistry and Nutrition, the Department under the headship of Mrs Adeoye M.D has fixed Wednesday 26 th June, 2013 as the day for the presenta- tion of their projects, while July 3 rd , 2013 has been tentatively fixed for the defense UNIVERSITY APPOINTS DR JIMOH S.O AS ACTING COORDINATOR The University Management under the distinguished V.C Prof. Bashir Raji has appointed Dr (Mrs) Jimoh S.O as the Ag. Coordinator of Biological Sciences with effect from March 1 st , 2013. Prior to this, Dr Bello O.B who is now the Acting Dean of the College of Natural and Applied Sciences was the Acting Head of the Department. We wish her a successful tenure.

SPORTS & SOCIAL EVENTS II IAAF BEGINS WORLD’S TICKET IN CALABAR

The IAAF World Championship train will begin a three-day stop over today in Cala-bar as Nigerian athletes begin the battle for places in Moscow, Russia for the 14th edition of the biennial Championship this August.

The major battles will be in the sprints and the quarter mile where the duo of Ogho-Oghene Egwero and Blessing Okagbare will be defending their crowns in the 100m and Abiola Onakoya and Noah Akwu fight for supremacy in the men’s 400m. The same battle for supremacy will be fought in the 400m where Regina George will be defending her title.

FLYING EAGLES SAFELY LAND IN TURKEY FOR U-20 WORLD CUP

The world football governing body, FIFA Monday afternoon formally welcomed Nigeria’s U-20 team to the World Cup in Turkey. Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles trained twice on Tuesday ahead of their opening group B match against Portugal on Friday night. Debutants Cuba and South Korea are the other teams in the group B based in Kayseri.

African Champions Nigeria, assumed a commanding position on the road to Brazil when they piped Kenya National team by 1-0 in Nairobi on Wednesday June 5th, 2013. The lone goal was scored at 81st minutes of the energy sapping match through Ahmed Musa. On Wednesday 12th June, 2013, Nigeria Super eagles took another step to-wards securing their World cup qualification after recording a well deserved 1-1 draw with Namibia at Sam Nujoma stadium in Wedhock. Hotto fired home in 77th minutes to send home crowed jubilation. However, the celebration was short-lived as defender Godfrey Obabuna equalized for Nigeria just six min-utes to restore parity.

CONFEDERATION CUP, EAGLES WALLOPED TAHITI 6-1

Nnamidi hit hat-trick and Echiejile a brace as the Super eagles of Nigeria walloped Tahiti National team 6-1 in the ongoing Confederation Cup in Brazil on Monday night. The Super eagles will face Uruguay on Thursday for their sec-ond match, while the Spain tackles Tahiti.
