Ingleby Mill Primary School June 2015 Newsletter Welcome to the last half term of the academic year! How quickly this year has passed: it seems like only a short time ago that we were welcoming everyone to a new school year! Teachers are in the process of putting the final touches to annual reports about each child and summaries of their individual achievements are being noted. Reports will be sent home on Friday 10 th July. Y6 children have today begun their annual residential visit: 77 of them were waved out of the car park at 8.30am to make their way to Robinwood at Dobroyd Castle. They will take part in activities which will challenge them physically and mentally – and they will come back with a stronger sense of self, knowing that they CAN achieve things they could have only imagined! This is all part of their readiness for the adventures and learning ahead in secondary school. School Uniform There has been some slippage recently in the number of children coming to school in clothes that are not part of the uniform, including brightly coloured trainers/pumps which should be discouraged. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing clothes in line with our dress code of: Navy Sweatshirt/Cardigan White Polo Shirt/Shirt/Blouse Navy/Grey Trousers/Skirt/Shorts Blue/White Gingham Dress Black Shoes (not trainers) Jewellery should not routinely be worn though a watch and single stud earrings are permitted. A full uniform list (including PE Kit) can be found in the school brochure which was sent home to all families at the start of the school year. If you have any queries, please contact the school office. Memorial Garden Thanks to the hard work of Mr Morgan, Mrs Coverdale and Miss Humphrey, our garden to commemorate the life of Mrs Bev Curry (one of our teaching assistants who died after a short illness last year) is almost complete. Every child, almost all members of staff and Mrs Curry’s family have painted pebbles in glorious technicolour and these are now installed in one of the raised beds in the Y6 calm garden. A cherry tree (as suggested by Calum in Y5) has been planted alongside flowering plants and a bespoke bench with carving has been ordered. It is a beautiful area and one which will remind us daily about our friend and colleague. VE Day Celebrations We had an amazing day on 22 nd May, belatedly celebrating the 70 th anniversary of VE Day. Children from Reception to Y6 enjoyed a picnic on the field with their teachers and teaching assistants whilst the afternoon saw children take part in lots of different outdoor activities, with “Wet the Teacherbeing the absolute favourite! The weather was kind to us and everyone had a great time thanks to the efforts of Mr Carter and Mrs Coverdale whose hard work and organisation behind the scenes ensured that the afternoon was a great success. We made memories that we hope will last for a very long time! Busy Times: The coming weeks promise to be really busy. We always try to give you as much notice as we possibly can so below are key dates for your diary: please cut out and keep! Additional information will be sent out about individual events: please be sure to check your child’s book bag on a regular basis!! Please cut out & keep! Welcome to the last half term of the academic year! How quickly this year has passed: it seems like only a short time ago that we were welcoming everyone to a new school year! Teachers are in the process of putting the final touches to annual reports about each child and summaries of their individual achievements are being noted. Reports will be sent home on Friday 10th July.

Y6 children have today begun their annual

residential visit: 77 of them were waved out of

the car park at 8.30am to make their way to

Robinwood at Dobroyd Castle. They will take

part in activities which will challenge them

physically and mentally and they will come

back with a stronger sense of self, knowing

that they CAN achieve things they could have

only imagined! This is all part of their

readiness for the adventures and learning

ahead in secondary school. School Uniform

There has been some slippage recently in the

number of children coming to school in clothes

that are not part of the uniform, including brightly

    coloured trainers/pumps which should be

    discouraged.

Please ensure that your child comes to school

wearing clothes in line with our dress code of:

    Navy Sweatshirt/Cardigan

    White Polo Shirt/Shirt/Blouse

    Navy/Grey Trousers/Skirt/Shorts

    Blue/White Gingham Dress

    Black Shoes (not trainers)

Jewellery should not routinely be worn though a

watch and single stud earrings are permitted.

A full uniform list (including PE Kit) can be found in

the school brochure which was sent home to all

families at the start of the school year. If you have

any queries, please contact the school office.

    Memorial Garden

Thanks to the hard work of Mr Morgan, Mrs

Coverdale and Miss Humphrey, our garden to

commemorate the life of Mrs Bev Curry (one of

our teaching assistants who died after a short

illness last year) is almost complete. Every child,

almost all members of staff and Mrs Currys family have painted pebbles in glorious technicolour

and these are now installed in one of the raised

beds in the Y6 calm garden. A cherry tree (as

suggested by Calum in Y5) has been planted

alongside flowering plants and a bespoke bench

with carving has been ordered. It is a beautiful

area and one which will remind us daily about our

    friend and colleague.
