From the Westfield Washington Public Library Board

This year has brought about some staff changes at WWPL. Sandy Rowland , Assistant Director, retired at the first of February, and Sara Reitmeyer, IT manager, resigned in April. We wish them both well in the future, but we will miss them as part of the library staff. Sandy is volunteering for the library a few hours each week, and Sara has promised to carry on with her Friends of the Library office and duties, so at least we will still see them once in a while. The librarys current Strategic Plan ends at the end of 2015, so the library board will be preparing a new plan for the library. We hope to have a plan that is based on community needs and focused on how library services can help to meet those needs. We are in the process of hiring a consultant to help with the planning process. Stay tuned for more information on the exciting new plan. We hope to have focus groups with staff, the board, and community members. The Indiana State Board of Accounts audited the librarys finances for the years of 2011-2014. We received a good report with no problems. Circulation of library materials continues to increase over last years numbers. The librarys new community room is getting a lot of use. If you would like more information on using this room, please contact the library at 317-896-9391. The library also launched a new website this spring. We hope the new look and user friendliness will enhance our patrons library experience. Visit us at wwpl.lib.in.us if you havent already.

The Library Board meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month @ 7:00 PM. June 10 July 8 August 12

The Friends of the Westfield Library is an organization designed to promote and

support the mission of the Westfield Washington Public

Library. Through its fundraising efforts, primarily book sales held in the library and online, the group raises money used to fund library programs and to purchase

items that are not in the library's operating budget.

The Westfield Washington Public Library will strive,

in partnership with organizations, to provide quality

services, materials and facilities that fulfill the educational,

    informational, technological, cultural and recreational

    needs of the entire community.

Where do your membership dollars go? All of the Friends of the Westfield Library board members are unpaid volunteers, so only a fraction of the money we collect is used for overhead. Of course there are some operational supplies that we can't go without, but most of the FOWL income goes directly toward forwarding our mission. We work out of the library, which allows us to put more back into the library. For instance, we're planning to buy all new radio controlled atomic clocks for the building. While a clock here and there doesn't cost that much individually, buying one for over a dozen walls that until recently didn't exist, adds up! So, if you want to ensure that your money is going right back to benefit the community, join the Friends of the Westfield Library today!
