Happy Fathers’ Day! Annual Collection for Womankind

Holy Rosary has a tradition of collecting change between Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day for the benefit of Womankind. Throughout the shut-

down Womankind has provided hope, help and possibility to any pregnant woman by offering compre-hensive and integrative care in a loving, nonjudgmental

environment. Inevitably, the COVID-19 crisis is placing a considerable strain on Womankind's resources. Today, Fathers' Day, we invite you to consider sending a check

to Womankind, 5350 Transportation Blvd., Garfield Heights, OH 44125 or donate by credit card at their

website: www.womankindcleveland.org. Please write "Holy Rosary virtual baby bottle" on the

memo line of the check. Thank you in advance for your generosity again this year.

With Gratitude The Saint Anthony Women’s Society thanks all those who participated in the annual observance of the Feast Day of Saint Anthony on June 13th. The parish of Holy Rosary is grateful for the generous gift of $7,000.00 presented by the Saint Anthony Women’s Society. Thank you!

Reflection for Sunday, June 21st The simple beauty of the interior artistry of Holy Rosary Church has cap-tured my attention for decades. The stained glass windows portray the mysteries of the Rosary and sunshine warmly illuminates the colored glass. The century-old statues depict the Sacred Heart of Jesus, our Blessed Mother and a variety of Italian saints. These sacred images seek to lead one deeper into prayer and closer in relationship with Jesus Christ.

Years of attending Mass, Eucharistic adoration and other liturgies has prompted an observation that the most commonly depicted images in Holy Rosary Church are those of angels. Seeking to know more, today it led to research on angels in the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

The existence of the spiritual, non-corporeal beings that Sacred Scripture usually calls "angels" is a truth of faith. The witness of Scripture is as clear as the unanimity of Tradition. (CCC 328)

The whole life of the Church benefits from the mysterious and powerful help of angels . (CCC 334)

Angels have been present from creation and throughout all of salvation history. From the Incarnation to the Resurrection and Ascension angels have surrounded Jesus and we join in their hymns of praise in the Mass when we pray the Glory to God and Hosanna in the Highest.

The Catechism continues by acknowledging the various creatures of creation, including the angels who are immortal and spiritual beings with intelligence and will, stating: The hierarchy of creatures is expressed by the order of the "six days," from the less perfect to the more perfect. God loves all his creatures and takes care of each one, even the sparrow. Nevertheless, Jesus said: "You are of more value than many sparrows." (Catechism of the Catholic Church 342)

Coincidentally, (and much to my amazement), I recognized the quote about the spar-rows is contained within today’s Gospel reading from Matthew and may bring us some much-needed hope during the challenging days in which we find ourselves: So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:31)

There is divine order to creation and an interdependence of all creatures upon each other. Creation is thus ordered to give praise to God as the angels do ceaselessly. Saint Francis of Assisi acknowledges this in his Canticle of the Creatures. Similarly, Saint Thomas Aquinas reflects in the Summa Theologica that the “angels work to-gether for the benefit of us all.” (CCC 350) Ultimately we recognize that God’s love for us is eternal and our focus is on the heavenly kingdom. Sadly, the recent days of division, injustice and unrest are noth-ing new in the history of humanity, but a simple realization of that alone is not suffi-cient to pull us through the challenges. What may ease our burden is a firm faith that God created us to know, love and serve Him and that He has counted every hair of our head and values each unique life. The talented artists who designed and decorated Holy Rosary Church over a hundred years ago acknowledged the presence and importance of angels within creation — from the statue of the powerful Saint Michael the Archangel on the bell tower steps, to the tiny cherubs appearing in most of the stained-glass windows, the central fresco above the altar, the Rosary window (on the front cover of this bulletin), and within the beloved statue of the Assumption of Our Blessed Mother. In total, more than one hundred angels are portrayed within the walls of Holy Rosary Church! May their presence bring us comfort and fortitude during this challenging time, as we join with the angels and communion of saints in an unending hymn of praise to our loving God: the Father, Son & Holy Spirit! - Tammy Moore, Pastoral Associate

Important Guidelines and Restrictions Relating to Mass Attendance

The Sunday Mass schedule remains the same: 5pm vigil on Saturday, 8:30 am, 11 am and 8pm on Sundays. A recording of Mass is available on the website at 8:30 a.m. each Sunday. Weekday Masses continue with a modified schedule. (Mon., Tues., Weds. & Fri. at 12:15pm) All Masses must comply with social distancing guidelines.

The Diocese of Cleveland has provided worship guidelines to observe as Catholics return to Mass. For a full overview visit their website at: dioceseofcleveland.org/forward-with-christ/overview

Before Attending Mass at Holy Rosary: Please remain at home and watch Mass online or on television if you are sick or if you are in an at-risk category or if someone in your household is in an at-risk category. The dispensation from attending Mass continues during this uncertain time. Please wash your hands before coming to church and sanitize your hands as needed before entering, when exiting, and after contact with your face. You are asked to WEAR A MASK or other face covering upon entering the church and during the celebration of Mass, except for the brief moment of receiving Holy Communion. No missals or hymnals will be available in the pews. If you have your own missal, you may bring it for personal use. Holy water fonts will remain empty. Be mindful of six feet distance and tape markings along the floor. Families with young children should note that the cry room will not be available for use.

Entering Church & During Mass: We ask everyone to enter via the FRONT DOORS on Mayfield Road to maintain social distance and orderly seating. If you require use of the elevator, please contact the Parish Office during the week or by 3pm on Saturday indicating

which Mass you will attend that weekend so that we can plan for your arrival and assist you. Please maintain social distance when entering and finding a seat. Families or Households may remain together and sit together but are to maintain six feet of distance between their

family and other families or individuals No offertory collection will be taken during Mass to reduce contact. Following Mass, we invite you to place your

offertory donation envelopes in the baskets in the front sanctuary area. Singing by the congregation during Mass is temporarily omitted to reduce aerosol spread. A cantor and/or instru-

mentalist may provide hymns for reflection and prayer. The sign of peace is omitted. Communion distribution will be in the form of the Host only. The full Body, Blood Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ

is contained in the Consecrated Host. For the health and safety of all, reception of Holy Communion in the hand is strongly encouraged to avoid contact with an individual’s saliva. Receiving Holy Communion on the tongue is strongly discouraged for the duration of the pandemic and to safeguard the lives of others.

For Sunday Masses—two Communion lines will be formed in the outside aisles instead of the center aisle to main-tain distance. At weekday Mass or for weekend Masses with fewer in attendance, note that one single-file line will be formed in the center aisle.

Before approaching the Communion minister, the communicant should reverence the Blessed Sacrament with a simple bow and pull their mask below the chin before standing in front of the minister, then approach the minister with hands properly ready—with upward facing palms placed on top of each other to receive Communion in the hand. Please maintain six feet of space between households, especially when returning to your pew via the center

aisle.

Exiting After Mass: Please be patient following Mass to exit in an organized manner and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Bulletins will be handed out by individuals wearing gloves and masks. Note that there should be no touching, handshakes or hugs exchanged for others’ protection. Pews, doors and other contact areas will be wiped down after each Mass. Please discard any trash as you leave— and as a courtesy to our cleaning volunteers, do not leave anything behind in the pews. Thank you. Coffee and donuts and other social gatherings continue to be suspended at this time.

Other Notes: The church will be open for prayer one hour before scheduled Masses and will be locked a half hour after Mass. On Wednesday evenings the church will be open at 6:20pm for Adoration and Confession and will be promptly

locked at 7:30 pm.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the Parish Office at (216) 421-2995.

Some of the differences for this year include: There will be no printed guide available beforehand. Garden locations and maps will be provided at one

central location in the neighborhood. Safety measures such as: social distancing, masks, no

touching, etc. will be required. Visit www.GardenWalkCleveland.org for additional in-formation.

with the same social distancing guidelines recommended for Mass attendance.

The Sacrament of Penance is offered each Wednesday at this same time. Confession will be held in the Children’s

Room to ensure proper social distancing. We also ask that you wear a mask and have patience with these new chal-

lenges. If you are sick, please remain at home.

Holy Rosary Tuition Assistance 2020--2021 School Year

The Diocese of Cleveland encourages parishes who do not operate a Catholic School to provide assistance for chil-dren whose families are registered at that parish to attend a Catholic elementary school. This program subsidizes an amount sufficient to cover the difference between parish-ioner and non-parishioner tuition rates at area Catholic grade schools allowing families to remain active parishion-ers of their home parish. Any parish family with children enrolled in Kindergarten through 8th grade at a Catholic elementary school and who is not currently participating in the parish tuition assistance program is invited to contact Father Joe Previte at (216) 421-2995 for details. Parish families already participating in the program will receive a letter for the 2020-21 school year in the U.S. Mail in the coming weeks.
