LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR You are worth more!

On this 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus values us and says that we are worth more than many sparrows (Mt 10:26-33). We would love to hear these words from Jesus’ mouth, speaking to us personally: we are great. He sees us different-ly, not the way we look at ourselves. He sees more in us, more possibilities in us. We can be more than what we are at the moment. When we fail to see more in us we should not be afraid. This weekend, we celebrate Father’s Day. Can we experience our God as a loving and caring Father? Like a father, our God patiently waits for the best from us, his children. He encour-ages us, sees the best in us, pours down his power, helps us choose the best, walks with us on our journey, defends us – He does everything for us. Indeed, he is a loving and caring father. With Jeremiah we may say: “The Lord is with me, like a mighty champion: my persecutors will stumble, they will not triumph” (Jer. 20:10-13). We go through a lot of changes in this time of pandemic. We are not sure how and how long the corona virus is going to affect our lives. Please be safe. When you come to the church please always wear a mask and use sanitizers. This year, Confirmation is delayed. Please keep in prayer our 23 candidates who are patiently awaiting for their Confirmation Day. Our First Communion did not take place yet. We are planning Masses for First Communion on August 22. How great it would have been if these kids could receive the Lord! Some of our students graduated this year. Congratulations and blessings to them. May they be able to maintain their en-thusiasm for learning even in this hard time of pandemic. This weekend, our fathers, grandfathers and father figures will receive a special blessing. Prayer cards and rosaries will be available as a token of appreciation for all they are and do. May God continue to help them in fulfilling being fathers in this unprecedented time. This Monday, June 22, begins the Week of Religious Free-dom. Please enjoy your freedom of choice for our God. Please practice this freedom, encourage others in finding it and pray for all those who do not have this freedom of choice. During this week, we will pray the Holy Rosary at 6pm during the Holy Hour. Please join us in the church or online. I would encourage you to pray for our sick. There are a few parishioners sick, not necessarily due to corona virus. This week, we have lost three long time parishioners who are called for eternal rest: Henry Fernandez, Betty Sachnik and Beatrice Rios. May their gentle soul rest in peace and heartfelt condolences to their bereaving families. With regard to the building project: a land survey is being done at the moment. In a month's time, we will be able to know where we can build our new church. Please keep this in your valuable prayers that we can move forward. Blessings, Fr. Johnson, your pastor

Kid’s Corner

12th Sunday in Ordinary Time Décimo Segundo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario In today’s Gospel, we are encouraged to be fearless in the face of opposition. We have a responsibility to contribute to the good of society in a spirit of truth, justice, solidarity, and free-dom. Even when others attempt to thwart our efforts to build up a just society, we must remember that we are the Lord’s own. Even as those against us may attempt to destroy our bodies as we endeavor to develop a just society, we must re-member that because we are the Lord’s own, they will not be able to destroy our souls. We must continue to trust in God and proclaim our faith boldly. In life, as in death, we belong to the Lord.

Parishioner’s Remark Dear Father, I pray that this tithing reaches you in good health. We miss going to church but feel the need to stay at home and watch via the online service. We are considered high risk. So we are taking our precautions seriously. We look forward to the day where we feel we can join you on Sundays. Until then, we pray for you and the church and anyone inflicted by this virus. Thank you for the blessings. Sincerely a parishioner.
