Today’s opening antiphon invites us to
clap our hands and shout with joy, for
our God is a God of life. God brought
life into the world at creation, making
us in the divine image. Jesus brought
new life to the world, redeeming us and
preparing us for eternal life with the
Lord. We come together here today, as
we do each Sunday, to hear the word
of God, to be nourished in the Eucha-
rist, and to give praise and glory to
God. May our lives, energized by the
Holy Spirit, witness to the wonderful
generosity of our God, our God of life.
hizo a imagen y semejanza divina.
caristía, y a dar alabanza y gloria a
Dios. Que nuestras vidas, avivadas
por el Espíritu Santo, den testimonio
de la prodigiosa generosidad de nues-
tro Dios, nuestro Dios de la vida.

No one, except God, is good enough, and only He has the right and authority, to judge us, because only He sees the whole truth and only He can read the human heart. We do not see all the facts or circumstances, nor the power of the temp-tation, behind a person’s evil deed. We have no right to judge others because we have the same faults as the ones we are judging and often in a higher degree (remember Jesus’ funny example of a man with a wooden beam in his eye trying to re-move the dust particle from another’s eye?) St. Philip Neri commented, watching the misbehavior of a drunkard: “There goes Philip but for the grace of God.” We are often prejudiced in our judgment of others, and total fairness cannot be ex-pected from us. Let us leave the judgment to God and refrain from being critical and judgmental. Let us remember the advice of saints: “When you point one finger of accusation at another, three of your fingers point at you. Let us heed the Jewish rabbi’s advice: “He who judges others favorably will be judged favorably by God.
REASONS WHY WE SHOULD NOT JUDGE OTHERS

MINISTRY CONTACT LIST
WHAT IS THE “MIRACULOUS MEDAL” AND WHY IS IT CALLED THAT?
The medal of the Immaculate Conception that has come to be called simply the “Miraculous Medal” dates back to an apparition of Mary to Saint Catherine Laboure, who was then a novice sister with the Daughters of Charity. On No-vember 27, 1830, Our Lady appeared to her standing on a globe, with shafts of light streaming from her hands and the words, “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee,” surrounding the image. In the same vi-sion, Catherine saw a capital “M” with a cross above it and below two hearts. Catherine seemed to hear a voice telling her to have what she saw struck as a medal and a promise that those who wore the medal would have the protection and intercession of the Mother of God. The first 1,500 of medals were distributed in 1832. Many miraculous favors were attributed to the use of the medal. Saint Catherine’s “Miraculous Medal” is among the recognizable and popular symbols of modern Catholicism. Reflecting on its wide-spread use, the 2001 Vatican document, “Directory on Pop-ular Piety and Liturgy,” observes that the medal “recalls the mystery of Redemption, the love of the Sacred Heart of Je-sus and of the Sorrowful Heart of Mary. It signifies the medi-atory role of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mystery of the Church, the relationship between Heaven and earth, this life and eternal life.”
Jesus accepts us as we are. Hence, let us bring before him our bodily illnesses and spiritual wounds and ask for his healing touch. As Christians, we believe that Je-sus continues to heal us through God’s instruments in the medical profession like doctors, nurses and medical technicians. Hence, when we go to a doctor, we need to offer a prayer to Christ, The Divine Healer, that we may choose the right doctor, who will make the correct diag-nosis, prescribe the correct treatment, and give us the right medicine. Let us not forget the truth that Christ still works wonders of healing. Let us also thank God for the great gift of health and use it for helping those who are sick. We need to continue the healing mission of the Church: As members of the Church, we are not ex-cused from our vocation to be healers. We do our share of Christ’s healing mission by visiting the sick, by pray-ing for their healing, and by boosting their morale with our loving presence, and words of encouragement and inspiration. Thus, we may enable them to experience the compassion of Jesus the healer.
