There is no teen devo tonight due to the teens being away at Camp Bandina.
Memories of Camp Bandina
Thirty-nine years ago, give or take a week or so, I was a twelfth grade camper at Bandina, my only opportunity to go. In the years since, I have been blessed by God to attend Bandina 25 years as a counselor and one year as a ministry intern. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful wife and children — he has blessed me with a loving and caring church family here at Westside and he has blessed me over and over through my Bandina family. At least a third of the staff who will be at camp this year were campers together many years ago. Our young people make many great memories at Bandina, they study the Word of God intensely and they make Christian friends for life. That’s what Bandina means to me. Rayford
The dates for Twin Oaks Camp have been set for July 27th - 31st. Twin Oaks is for those who have
finished the 3rd through the 6th grades. Applications are on the table in the foyer.
Please turn applications in to Richie by July 3rd.
Those to remember in prayer…
Scott Allen began both chemo and radiation
treatments last Tuesday. The treatments take place at
the same time with chemo occurring once per week
for 6 weeks and radiation five times a week for the
same 6 weeks.
John and Beverly Spencer both continue to do well
at home recovering from their recent
hospitalizations.
Nikki Spears received the results of her MRI's and it
was good news. She will not need surgery, but will
need to do a few months of physical therapy to
strengthen her knee and ankle.
Kevin Burkhardt, Kevin Ford’s friend and
coworker, has Stage 2 esophagus and stomach
cancer. He meets with his doctor on June 13th to
discuss when his surgery will be to remove his
esophagus and part of his stomach and when he will
begin chemotherapy.
Lola Haley asks that we keep in our prayers James
Peveey who has just been diagnosed with cancer of
the kidney. James is the father of Lola’s
daughter-in-law, Gwen Haley.
Jake Sanders is continuing to be treated for
pneumonia, but is getting better. And what was
thought last week to be a swollen lymph gland or a
spot on his lung is not either one — it was just the
pneumonia showing up on the x-ray.

VBS 2016
Our Vacation Bible School is set
for June 27th - June 30th
Our theme this year is: “Creatures of the Heart”.
If you are interested in teaching
or helping, please see Kim Hamilton or Joyce Davenport. Volunteers are needed and
very much appreciated.
Greg Fair will be bringing the sermon to us this morning, since Rayford is away at Camp Bandina.
We are collecting
grocery bags and
paper towel rolls for
our VBS. If you could
please bring them in batches of
15 and place them in
the yellow box in the
foyer, it would be
greatly appreciated.
Ladies Bible class will not be meeting over the summer.
Class will resume again in September.
Additional Deacons Proposed
Two weeks ago, the elders placed before the congregation the names of three men to serve as additional deacons. These men are Don
Berryman, Curtis Gardner and Joey Janoch. If you know of any scriptural
reason why any of these men are not qualified to serve, you must present this to one of the
elders by next Sunday, June 12th. If there are no objections, all three men will be appointed
to serve on Sunday, June 19th.
Hershel Bearden will be here
next Sunday, June 12th, to give
us an update on his mission work
in India during a combined adult
bible class and bring the Sunday
morning sermon.
All the ladies in the congregation are encouraged to come to Ladies Prayer Group today at 5:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
Rayford and Richie will both be away at Camp Bandina this week.
Please contact one of the Elders or Sheri Ford, if you need anything.
All of the men in the
congregation are
encouraged to come
to a Men’s Prayer Breakfast on
Saturday, June 18th, at 8:00 am.
