Tuesday June 6, 2017 13 STATE TIMES NEWS SRINAGAR: The Govern- ment has extended the term of the existing State Press Accreditation Committee (SPAC) by one year in view of the fact that no meeting of the Committee could be con- vened last year due to revi- sion of the Press Accreditation Rules. The Government today also noti- fied the new State News Media Accreditation Policy- 2017 to replace the State Press Accreditation Policy of 1997 which was presently in vogue. The members of the SPAC, constituted vide Govt Order No: 37-ID of 2016 dated: 07- 12-2016 whose term has now been extended for the year 2017-18 include Bashir Manzar, Editor Kashmir Images; Shuja-ul-Haq, Bureau Chief, India Today TV; Taufiq Rashid, Bureau Chief, Hindustan Times; Vivek Sharma, Correspondent, STATE TIMES; Manish Gupta, Resident Editor, Early Times; Pradeep Dutta, Bureau Chief, Times Now; Tariq Lone, Video Journalist, Aaj Tak; Farooq Javaid Khan, Photo Journalist, Rising Kashmir; Rajnesh Bakshi, Video Journalist, IBN7 and Channi Anand, Photo Journalist Associated Press. Pertinently, in view of the fast-changing media scenario in the State, the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) had formu- lated a new Media Accreditation Policy to replace the existing Press Accreditation Policy of 1997 which had become redundant due to vast expansion of media in Jammu and Kashmir over a period of time. The State Press Accreditation Committee (SPAC) in its meeting con- vened in Jammu on 17 December 2015 had also rec- ommended a holistic review of the Press Accreditation Rules-1997 to attune the same with the existing media scenario in the State. Protesting contractual lecturers are demanding their regularisation as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a poli- cy framed for the regulari- sation of all the ad-hoc/ contractual/consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services. The function also marked the inauguration of door to door collection and source segrega- tion of the waste of households by way of providing them with twin coloured dustbins and also rolling out of 50 new hopper vehicles to strengthen the transportation of segregated waste collected from house- holds. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kumar Rajeev Ranjan , Project Director NHAI, M T Attarde, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), concerned SDMs and Assistant Commissioner Central. During the meeting, the Div Com reviewed the progress of land acquisition cases involving 50 villages which are at different stages of the acquisition. It was given out in the meeting that project involves 322 hectare of land and for- malities under section 6 and 7 of the act have been com- pleted for 67 per cent of the land at present. Dr Bhandari asked for speeding up the process with coordination among the stakeholders and compre- hensive interaction between SDMs, NHAI and Div Com office so as to remove unnec- essary hurdles. He asked the concerned SDMs to personally monitor the process and adopt confi- dence building approach with the public so as to expedite disposal of land acquisition issues. Earlier, in another meeting held to review the progress of Jammu Cable car project, the Div Com directed the con- cerned departments to put in coordinated efforts so that held up issues are resolved at the earliest . He further said that these projects are of paramount importance for the region and must be exe- cuted at a faster pace so that the region can reap benefits from such projects at eco- nomical and social front. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Expressing con- cern over the indifferent attitude of school manage- ment, the parents of Presentation Convent School Gandhi Nagar on Monday accused the man- agement of playing with the career of the students. Large number of parents of Class 10 students assem- bled outside the school and staged a protest. Raising slogans against school man- agement, the parents alleged that the internal assessment sent by the school to the CBSE was not as per the performance of the students which resulted into downgrading the annu- al performance of the stu- dents. The students who have performed very well in the theory were not given good grades in the internal assessment due to which the result of 10th class, which was declared by CBSE on Saturday, was not satisfac- tory, they alleged. Even the outstanding stu- dents were not given good marks in the internal assessment due to which their CGPA got affected, the protesting parents alleged, adding the blue- eyed students of the school management were given undue advantage and grades as per their choice which made the genuine performers to suffer. The parents asked the school management to mend its ways and demanded imme- diate redressal of their problems. The parents have alleged that school management has pasted a notice on School Notice Board stating "This result is not final and until you receive the CCE Certificates, this may be treated as provisional." STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department, J and K Grameen Bank as per the guidelines of RBI under the chairmanship of R.K Chhibber initiated the financial literacy week on 5th June, 2017 with the conduct of about 24 Financial Literacy programmes across the State to percolate the financial literacy in every unbanked nook and corner. These programmes are being conducted by the rural branch- es and Financial Literacy Centers. The customers are educated by the various aids like charts, pamphlets and videos etc. Grameen Bank initiates financial literacy week STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The residents of Jammu West constituency blocked the Janipur High Court Road against the power failure for the last more than 36 hours. The residents assembled at Janipur High Court Road and raised slogans against the state govern- ment and Power Development Department for its failure to provide uninterrupted power sup- ply to the people of Jammu city. The protestors said that every year the people of Jammu city are made to suffer during summers on account of power cuts and non-supply of drinking water. In these days, when the temperature is 44 to 45 degrees, only electricity and drinking water can provide some relief from scorching heat but unfor- tunately both these com- modities have gone out of the reach of a common cit- izen, they said. "It is the duty of elected government to ensure that people are not made to suffer but in Jammu and Kashmir the government has least concern for the people and its ministers are enjoying their sum- mers in Kashmir and do not have any feeling for the helpless people of Jammu," they empha- sized. They maintained that it is the same Coalition Government which had given a categorical assur- ance that the areas which get electronic meters installed will not have to suffer any power cut. The government has failed to keep its promise and the situation has gone from bad to worst, they said, adding that the long curtailment of power has made the life of people miserable adding that the students are the worst suf- ferers. Holding the Deputy Chief Minister responsible for power crisis in Jammu region, the protesters said as Power Minister he failed to initiate action to improve the power supply in the State. They also blamed the Jammu West MLA for not showing his serious con- cern towards the problems being faced by the people of his constituency. Fire broke out in the residential house of Parveez Ahmad Penchoo, son of Abdul Salam, resident of Kuhama in the juris- diction of Police Station Argam, resulting in damage to the structure. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Justice AlokAradhe directed University ofJammu that the interview forthe post of AssistantProfessor shall strictly be con-ducted in accordance with cri-teria, which is approved by theSyndicate of University.

The court direction came ina petition filed by Dr. VikasSharma seeking quashment ofthe criteria for selection ofcandidates for the post ofAssistant Professor/AssistantDirector indicated in clauseIV of advertisement noticedated 3rd January 2017including screening criteriaand selection criteria as noti-fied vide notification dated15th May 2017, being totallyillegal, arbitrary, contrary tothe UGC guidelines andunconstitutional.

The petition also soughtdirection for quashing finallist of candidates short-listedfor interview to the posts ofAssistant Professors inStatistics in reference to theimpugned criteria which hasbeen scheduled to be conduct-ed on 6th June 2017, beingtotally illegal, arbitrary andunconstitutional.

The meeting was attendedby Deputy CommissionerKumar Rajeev Ranjan ,Project Director NHAI, M TAttarde, AssistantCommissioner (Revenue),concerned SDMs andAssistant CommissionerCentral.

During the meeting, theDiv Com reviewed theprogress of land acquisitioncases involving 50 villageswhich are at different stagesof the acquisition.

It was given out in themeeting that project involves322 hectare of land and for-malities under section 6 and7 of the act have been com-pleted for 67 per cent of theland at present.

Dr Bhandari asked forspeeding up the process withcoordination among thestakeholders and compre-hensive interaction betweenSDMs, NHAI and Div Comoffice so as to remove unnec-essary hurdles.

He asked the concernedSDMs to personally monitorthe process and adopt confi-dence building approach withthe public so as to expeditedisposal of land acquisitionissues.

Earlier, in another meetingheld to review the progress ofJammu Cable car project, theDiv Com directed the con-

cerned departments to put incoordinated efforts so thatheld up issues are resolved atthe earliest . He further saidthat these projects are ofparamount importance forthe region and must be exe-cuted at a faster pace so thatthe region can reap benefitsfrom such projects at eco-nomical and social front. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Expressing con-cern over the indifferentattitude of school manage-ment, the parents ofPresentation ConventSchool Gandhi Nagar onMonday accused the man-agement of playing with thecareer of the students.

Large number of parentsof Class 10 students assem-bled outside the school andstaged a protest. Raisingslogans against school man-agement, the parentsalleged that the internalassessment sent by theschool to the CBSE was notas per the performance ofthe students which resultedinto downgrading the annu-al performance of the stu-dents. The students whohave performed very well inthe theory were not givengood grades in the internalassessment due to which theresult of 10th class, whichwas declared by CBSE on

Saturday, was not satisfac-tory, they alleged.

Even the outstanding stu-dents were not given goodmarks in the internalassessment due to whichtheir CGPA got affected,the protesting parentsalleged, adding the blue-eyed students of the schoolmanagement were givenundue advantage andgrades as per their choicewhich made the genuine

performers to suffer. Theparents asked the schoolmanagement to mend itsways and demanded imme-diate redressal of theirproblems.

The parents have allegedthat school managementhas pasted a notice onSchool Notice Board stating"This result is not final anduntil you receive the CCECertificates, this may betreated as provisional."

These programmes are being conducted by the rural branch-es and Financial Literacy Centers.

J&K Grameen Bank has covered most of the districts of theState including Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar,Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Srinagar, Rajouri andPoonch.

The motto of the financial literacy week is to bridge up thegap between the rural unbanked masses and banking byincreasing the customer awareness. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The residents ofJammu West constituencyblocked the Janipur HighCourt Road against thepower failure for the lastmore than 36 hours.

The residents assembledat Janipur High CourtRoad and raised slogansagainst the state govern-ment and PowerDevelopment Departmentfor its failure to provideuninterrupted power sup-ply to the people ofJammu city.

The protestors said thatevery year the people ofJammu city are made tosuffer during summers onaccount of power cuts andnon-supply of drinkingwater.

In these days, when thetemperature is 44 to 45degrees, only electricityand drinking water canprovide some relief fromscorching heat but unfor-tunately both these com-modities have gone out ofthe reach of a common cit-izen, they said.

"It is the duty of electedgovernment to ensure thatpeople are not made to

suffer but in Jammu andKashmir the governmenthas least concern for thepeople and its ministersare enjoying their sum-mers in Kashmir and donot have any feeling forthe helpless people ofJammu," they empha-sized.

They maintained that itis the same CoalitionGovernment which hadgiven a categorical assur-ance that the areas whichget electronic metersinstalled will not have tosuffer any power cut.

from bad to worst, theysaid, adding that the longcurtailment of power hasmade the life of peoplemiserable adding that thestudents are the worst suf-ferers.

They also blamed theJammu West MLA for notshowing his serious con-cern towards the problemsbeing faced by the peopleof his constituency.

Fire broke out in the residential house of Parveez AhmadPenchoo, son of Abdul Salam, resident of Kuhama in the juris-diction of Police Station Argam, resulting in damage to thestructure. Fire was brought under control by fire tenders.However, no loss of life or injury was reported in this incident.
