Lord in church in these summer

months. It is also important to

have family times together, to

have vacations, to have time for

recreation and all the other won-

We are children of our Heavenly

Father. A hymn expresses this

well.

Enjoy the summer, Enjoy your

family and friends and rejoice

in the Lord for all His blessings.

The Lord be with you,

William F. Moeller, Pastor

Dear Members of Good Shep-

herd:

During May and into June we

have different things with our

families. We had Confirmation

on the first Sunday in May.

Then on the second Sunday

of May we celebrated Mothers

Day. It is a time we think of

how important our mothers

and grandmothers are to us.

Then on May 25 we observed

Memorial Day where we re-

member all those who have

given service and their lives

in the service of our nation.

Now in the month of June we

will have the High School Grad-

uation and others graduating

from college. We need to con-

gratulate them in their achieve-

ments and truly pray the Lord’s

guidance in their lives as they

go forward. We rejoice with

you that accomplish these

milestones in your lives. In this

month of June we also cele-

brate Father’s Day. Our society

downplays the importance of

fathers many times. But the

Lord when He created us,

created male and female and

gave great responsibilities to

both father and mother in raising

children.

It is important than that we build

our homes on the Lord. Jesus

compares our lives and our

homes to building a house. In

Matthew 7:24-27 we read: 24“Therefore everyone who hears

these words of mine and puts

them into practice is like a wise

man who built his house on the

rock. 25The rain came down, the

streams rose, and the winds

blew and beat against that

house; yet it did not fall, because

it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these

words of mine and does not put

them into practice is like a fool-

ish man who built his house on

sand. 27The rain came down, the

streams rose, and the winds

blew and beat against that

house, and it fell with a great

crash.”

us to have family devotions and

“Pray for our Nation Month”. There are so many struggles and needs in our country today. The power of prayer cannot be underesti-

mated! God does answer and work through the prayers of His people. Please consider this request, knowing that it is pleasing to

God. Blessings on your summer.

Ken B – DCE

For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now…

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.

Matthew 24:21, Psalm 107:19

In these days of desperation and confusion, struggles, hopelessness and helplessness, when mountains are collapsing, nations are

warring, people are rioting, races are growing further apart, the earth is quaking, and the enemy is threatening, it’s time to cry out in

fervent prayer to the Lord!

As we approach the summer months, we find ourselves in a more relaxed state. But, it is also an excellent time for us to join together

with other followers of Jesus Christ, as we implore God to help us make sense of the senseless, bless the leaders who lead, and save

us from our distress. In the midst of all the uncertainty we need to remember that we find Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. He is

always there lifting us up and pouring out His grace and mercy on His people. He is truly a God of love and not a God of wrath and

destruction. “By grace are we saved”.

I Suggest: Pray each and every day during the month of June for our country. We typically wake up in the morning and turn on the

news to see what has happened in our community, our country, and the world overnight. While turmoil can be upsetting, it should

also lead us to pray. Ask for God’s divine intervention in these situations. What better time is there than while we are beginning an-

other day of life in His earthly kingdom.

The Purpose:

To claim God the Father’s promise of an outpouring of His Spirit in these difficult days. “I will pour out my Spirit in those days

…”. (Joel 2:29)

To implore God the Holy Spirit to compel the church to repent of sin and our nation to return to faith in the living God, that times

of refreshing may come. (Acts 3:19)

To entreat God our Savior to lead us to work in his vineyard, for an abundant harvest of souls for His Kingdom in the remaining

days. I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. (John 4:35)

To ask that God would guide and bless America and our world. Pray that evil hearts may repent and turn to the Lord.

(Joel 2:13-14)

Thank you to everyone who

participated in the National Day of Prayer

worship event at our congregation on the

evening of May 7th. The power of prayer is

not to be underestimated by any means.

God not only invites us to pray to Him, but

strongly encourages it. This was a very

special night of scripture and prayer as we

came before our Lord with petitions for

government, military, media, business, ed-

ucation, the church, an family. If you were

unable to attend – for whatever the reason

– please put this event in your memory

and plan to attend next year.

Special thanks to all who served as wor-

Love Patches has wrapped up another quilt-

ing season and will be taking a break until

next September. It has been a great year

with many completed projects and the mem-

bers have had lots of enjoyment working to-

gether on these quilts. We have been

blessed with such great members and such

meaningful support from all of you. Thank

You! This mission was started in February of

2008 and I have been blessed to help lead

this group and watch it evolve and grow to

what it is today. Marian Brejle will be taking

over the leadership role for this group and

she can be reached at phone number 320-

859-5085 if you have any questions or wish

to talk to her Love Patches for any reason.

Marian is a very talented quilter and has been

so dedicated to this ministry – she will be an

awesome leader! Our goal always remains the

same “to serve our Lord by sewing hope and

caring through our quilt patches of love”. The

drop off box will remain by the closets in the

NE end of the education room if anyone has

donations to drop off over the summer

months. Have a safe and fun filled summer!

Love and Respect in Christian Relationships

Our theme from the D Team this year has been Love and Respect. The Bible provides a lot of examples about

how we can put that into practice in our relationships. In addition to seeing how well you do on the quiz, ask

yourself how well you do applying the principles in your relationships.

1. In his second letter, which was written to a lady, John wrote: “And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a

new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. And this is love:

that we ___.”

A. Honor and serve one another

B. Pray for one another that we shall be healed

C. Give generously of our time and possessions

D. Walk in obedience to his commands

2. Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one an-

other. By this ___, if you love one another.”

A. You will enter the narrow gate

B. Everyone will know that you are my disciples

C. You will fulfill all the law and commandments

D. Many will be brought to faith and repentance

3. Jesus said, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to

___.”

A. Lay down one’s life for one’s friends

B.S hare his food with the poor

C. Wash the feet of his friends

D. Pray for his friends when they need him

4. To the Romans Paul wrote: “Be devoted to one another in love. ___. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep

your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”

A. Bless one another

B. Baptize everyone

C. Honor one another above yourselves

D. Speak to each other with love

5. The writer to the Hebrews said, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is

faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another ___, not giving up meeting together, as some

are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approach-

ing.”

A. To pray for the sick so that they may be healed

B. To bless and honor one another

C. On toward love and good deeds

D. To provide for the necessity of the saints

B. All joy and peace

C. Completeness

D. Charity

What an Amazing year with the Sunday

School Youth and the Dedicated Volunteer

Teachers and Music Leaders. The Youth

showed such great enthusiasm with

Learning about Jesus, Singing and Giving

of their Offerings. Every Sunday, I so en-

joyed seeing each and every one of you.

Thank You Parents for bringing your youth

to Sunday School. Remember this Minis-

try would not have been possible without

all the Teachers and Music Leaders of this

congregation. They were dedicated indi-

viduals and I am personally Thankful for

them.
