Hello 4-H Families and 4-H’ers, Hey folks! I hope everyone is having a great start to your summer break. We have been busy here at the Extension

planning and preparing for the upcoming month’s events. Just as a reminder to those who would like to apply for Hidalgo

County Ambassadors, applications are due tomorrow, June 2nd. Also, on Wednesday, June 3rd, we are holding a mini

Livestock Judging session here at the office for the team representing Hidalgo County at State Round-Up next week and for

anyone else who would like to learn more about judging livestock. Guest speakers sharing their tips and expertise with us

are Mr. Benton England from the England Cattle Co., Mr. Jesse Cervantes from RGV Show Pigs, and Mr. Mario Guillen

from Rio Grande Valley Show Supply. On Thursday, June 4th from 10am to 12 pm, heifer validation will be going on at the

McAllen Ag. Farm. This is for shows happening in the Fall of 2015. Also, June 4th is the deadline to register for Leadership

Lab. There has been a change to the age limitation for this year’s Leadership Lab. Any 4-H member who has been (or will

be) promoted to the 7th grade will be allowed to go. Hope to see y’all there! Remember, Record Books are due Tuesday,

June 9th at the Ext. Office no later than 5:00 pm, no exceptions will be made. And GOOD LUCK to all of those going to State

!! ATTENTION !!

The AGE LIMITATION for

Attending Leadership Lab THIS JUNE has changed!

The current limitation on attendance is that youth must be 12 years of age by the registration deadline

(June 4, 2015). In consideration of upcoming changes in how 4-H members (statewide) enroll in the future

(e.g. all eligibility and age divisions will be based on grade level), it has been decided to allow any 4-H

member that will be (or has been) promoted to the 7th grade as of the end of this school year to attend

Leadership Lab this year. The registration deadline, however, has not changed.
