WOW! WE'VE GOT THE "GREAT NORTHWEST MORGAN TOURING SEASON" OFF TO A GRAND START!

FIRST THE STROMQUIST'S HOSTED THE VISIT TO THE PICTURESQUE PITTOCK MANSION FOLLOWED BY A TOUR AND LUNCH AT THE ROCK CREEK TAVERN. THEN, A COUPLE OF WEEKENDS AGO, MANY OF US MOGGERS DELIGHTED IN THE SPLENDID WEEKEND ORGANIZED BY THE POWLEYS IN VANCOUVER, BC. I WON'T GO INTO ALL THE DETAILS BECAUSE GLENN JEWETT SAID HE WANTED TO TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THE TERRIFIC TIME WE HAD - BUT I MUST SAY THAT JANIS AND I FELT THE FIELD MEET WAS VERY WELL DONE, THE BOTANICAL GARDENS PROVIDED A PERFECT SETTING, AND THE CANADIAN HOSPITALITY WAS UNPARALLELED. MANY THANKS TO MIKE AND ROSEMARIE POWLEY FOR THE INVITATION TO THEIR HOME SATURDAY EVENING AND FOR MAKING US "OUT-OF-TOWNERS" FEEL RIGHT AT HOME! I AM CONCERNED, THOUGH, ABOUT MIKE'S MOTIVES FOR THE "EXIT TOUR" SUNDAY MORNING - IT WAS A LOT OF FUN AND CERTAINLY MUCH BETTER THAN JUST HITTING THE HIGHWAY FOR HOME - BUT THE THOUGHT DID OCCUR TO ME THAT IT WAS ALMOST AS THOUGH WE AMERICANS WERE BEING ESCORTED TO THE BORDER!!

COMING UP NEXT IS THE QUARTERLY MEETING. I'M INCLUDING THIS IN THE DISCUSSION ABOUT TOURING BECAUSE DAVE CAMMARANO HAS PUT TOGETHER A NIFTY TOUR TO HARTSTENE ISLAND FOLLOWING THE MEETING. EVEN YOU FOLKS WHO DETEST BUSINESS MEETINGS (JULIAN!) SHOULD COME TO THIS ONE SINCE IT MIGHT BE THE ONLY CHANCE TO TOUR WITH YOUR FELLOW MOGGERS DURING JUNE!

MORRO BAY SCOOP !

ROSCOE NELSON SAYS HE IS DEFINITELY HEADED SOUTH FOR THE BIG FESTIVITIES IN CAMBRIA, CA. THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE GOING THIS YEAR SHOULD GET IN TOUCH WITH ROSCOE SO THAT A LITTLE ORGANIZING CAN BE DONE! ROSCOE CAN BE REACHED AT (S03) 227 -1859.

ONCE AGAIN I WANT TO THANK THE CONTRIBUTORS TO LAST MONTHS MOGAZINE. KEN McCLINTON AND DICK DICE BOTH WRITE WITH A FLAIR THAT MAKES READING THEIR ARTICLES PURE ENJOYMENT. WE'VE BEEN ENTERTAINED AND INFORMED - AND WE APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH!

AND FURTHERMORE, THERE WON'T BE ANYMORE OF THIS "DON'T PUT MY NAME ON IT" BUSINESS! YOU FOLKS WHO GIVE YOUR TIME AND TALENT TO THE MOGAZINE DESERVE TO BE RECOGNIZED FOR YOUR EFFORT! END OF DISCUSSION, KEN!

ALTHOUGH OUR GROUP IS NOT QUITE USED TO "SOCIAL ONLY" MEETINGS, WE ALL HAD A FINE TIME. HENRY AND WANDA STROMQUIST AND BOB AND JANIS HAUGE RECOUNTED THEIR ADVENTURES AT THE ALL BRITISH FIELD MEET IN CANADA. WE HAD SUCH A TERRIFIC WEEKEND - WE WISH MORE OF YOU COULD HAVE JOINED US, MAYBE NEXT YEAR! MOST OF THE EVENING WAS GIVEN TO CHATTING ABOUT THE ANTICIPATED SUMMER ACTIVITIES AND MAKING PLANS FOR NEXT MONTH'S MEETING.

WE WILL BE BACK AT THE HORSEBRASS AND WE WILL HAVE VIDEO TAPES CONTRIBUTED BY JOHN MACK AND BOB HAUGE. PLEASE JOIN US - THE FOOD IS GOOD AND THE COMPANY IS TERRIFIC. 7:30 PM AT THE HORSEBRASS - BE THERE!!

SPECIAL NOTICE DAVE CAMMARANO'S MINI TOUR TO HARSTENE ISLAND HAS BEEN EXTENDED_ AFTER OUR STOP AT THE ART GALLERY WE WILL TOUR THE HOODSPORT WINERY, HAVE DINNER AT THE HOODSPORT INN, AND THEN STAY AT THE ALDERBROOK INN FOR RESERVATIONS CALL 898-2200 PLEASE .TOIL US IF YOU CAN!

SEE YOU AT THE QUARTERLY MEETING!

REPORT FROM THE HORSEBRASS PUB

THIS REPORT ISN'T REALLY FROM THE HORSEBRASS PUB THIS MONTH. ACTUALLY THE SOUTHERN BUNCH MET AT FRED BOWMAN'S PORTLAND BREWING CO. THIS DELIGHTFUL CHANGE IN LOCALE FOUND US SITTING AROUND A HUGE TABLE IN THE PUB SECTION OF FRED'S ESTABLISHMENT. MANY OF US SAMPLED THE OFFERING OF FINE FOOD FOLLOWED BY SERIOUS QUAFFING OF THE BREW - PORTLAND ALE TO BE EXACT. FORTUNATELY THE QUAFFING APPEARED TO BE INVERSELY PROPORTIONAL TO THE MILEAGE TO BE DRIVEN AFTERWARDS SO I'M QUIE CERTAIN ALL MADE IT HOME SAFELY!

MUG NW NORTH MONTHLY MEETING by JEAN MACNEIL

On May 19, Madison Park was once again teased with the throaty sound of Morgan exhausts as a select few of the Northern Contingent gathered at the Red Onion. The Morrisons began the evening early, looking for a steam cleaner at five pm; as MacNeil raced by on her way to install the lower radiator hose before motoring back down the hill to join them. Her first solo repair coripleted, she drove up full of pride just as Jim Smalley arrived from the Poulsbo area. across the Sound. Already inside attacking their pizzas were Bob and Loretta Nelson, Dennis and Jacque Morrison, and Gary and Pam Bell.

Mike Amos arrived not long after with more discounted books for sale, and the race was on to wipe the pizza goo off the fingers before Bob Nelson got all the classics. (No one was as quick as Bob, even though he didn't have any dough other than the pizza type. That Amos is a trusting fellow.)

The main topic of conversation was "Where the were all the other members?." If Smalley could make it across a bridge and a ferry, one would think those living within a mile or so could stop by. Those of us there had a lively time, and we missed the rest of you. Other topics of interest were repair comparisons (lies??), gear talk, and tales of shakey shake-down trip.

After discussion of the poor turnout and the parking hassle at the Onion, it was agreed to meet at Godfathers Pizza near Totem Lake in Kirkland in June. Take the 116th Street exit from northbound 405 or the 124th Street exit from southbound 405. Nelson assures everyone that they do serve beer, and children are welcome. So pile 'em in the boot and we'll see you there.

ALL BRITISH MEET AT VAN DUZEN by GLENN JEWETT

They came from all directions, these British autos, on a rainy Friday afternoon. We were converging on Vancouver B.C. for the meet on the lawn at beautiful Van Duzen Gardens, Saturday the 14th of May 1988. Fourteen Morgans were in the group, most from MOG NW. They came from Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Alberta.

Louise and I left early Friday afternoon (top up) for Vancouver, hoping for good weather. Met the Hauge's and the Stromquist's at the border. We attended the cocktail party at Pacific Palisades Hotel where we met friendly well organized folks, talked to Bert McCabe briefly, and picked up our entry packet for Saturday. We were quartered at the Holiday Inn part of the fantastic planning for this event by Mike and Rosemarie Powley.

Went to Powley's Saturday morning for show and shine and breakfast. Joined Doug and Thailia Kingsford in washing up the buggys. The sun came out just as we approached the Gardens and the weather stayed nice for the day. Aside from over 200 cars in attendance, the Gardens were in full bloom and gorgeous. Bob and Janis Hauge won a well deserved first place for their 4/4, the McKenzie's were second, and Geoff Burkholder was third in the Morgan judging. Dr. Bob Walker brought his racing 4/4 and was rubbing shoulders with the vintage racers, a TVR, Lotus Super 7, and others. Overall a very pleasant day at Van Duzen. We capped the afternoon with a run up to Deep Cove and MT. Seymour. Led by the Stromquist's, the Hauge's, Dick Dice, and the Jewett's we got a good view of Vancouver.

Saturdays finest hours came at the Powley's barbeque, Noggin, Natter, and general blow out. We had car talk, videos (courtesy of Bert McCabe), door prizes, and a very good time. So good in fact that Bob and Loretta Nelson came all the way from Camano Island just for the party. If this was any indication of Powley hospitality, you will not want to miss the Vancouver Island tour in September.

Sunday morning the Powley's lead five Morgans to the border via a delightful exit tour through farm country to the Cloverdale Transport Museum and across the line at Alderbrook. We lunched at Lynden split up for home tired but happy.
