The meeting will start at 7:00pm and her demonstration will begin at about 7:45pm. She will be show- ing how she connects the wire, aluminum mesh, the clay, and the feet to her gourds to create her whimsical and humorous birds. She is enchanted by the imperfect nature of Gourds and she will hunt for hours to find the ones that speak to her about 'Who' they wish to become. She has won awards in many gourd shows, and her work is on display locally in Gallery 10 in Sutter Creek, and regionally in 6 other galleries, including the Crocker Art Museum gift shop in Sacramento. She has also been published in the Ginger Summit and Jim Weidess instructional books for Gourds. Jenn earned degrees in Interior Design and Fine Art and she currently lives and works in the Granite Bay area. The public is invited and refreshments will be served. The Scholarship Committee met in early April and reviewed the applications for the 2017 Scholarship Award. We had five qualified applicants from Amador High School. We interviewed the young ladies on April 11 at Amador High. Each of the young artists had good skills and a wonderful appreciation for art. These young ladies are ready to take their art to the new directions with modern technology. After consideration and thought we are awarding the $1200 Scholarship to Katy Hirschfeld. She is truly an im- pressive young lady. She maintained a 4.16 GPA and is ranked 6th in her class of 153. As and artist she designed the Senior Class sweatshirts for 2017. She chaired A Taste of the Arts, directed the Student Art Campaign Video, and is a California State Art Scholar having attended the California State Summer School for the Arts in Southern California. She has won numerous awards, volunteered at community events and is the Amador Arts Student Director for 2016-2017. She will be attending UC Davis in the fall with a double major in Mathematics and Art. Amy was adopted as a baby from China and has lived in Amador County with her mother ever since. She loves family and thrives as she works and achieves high goals. We are very proud to make this award to her. 2017 ACAA Scholarship Awarded

Hello ACAA members

Gourd artist Jenn Norpchen will be demonstrating at the June 14 meeting of the ACAA. The

meeting will start at 7:00pm and her demonstration will begin at about 7:45pm. She will be show-

ing how she connects the wire, aluminum mesh, the clay, and the feet to her gourds to create her

whimsical and humorous birds.

She is enchanted by the imperfect nature of Gourds and she will

hunt for hours to find the ones that speak to her about 'Who' they

wish to become. She has won awards in many gourd shows, and

her work is on display locally in Gallery 10 in Sutter Creek, and

regionally in 6 other galleries, including the Crocker Art Museum

gift shop in Sacramento. She has also been published in the Ginger

Summit and Jim Weidess instructional books for Gourds. Jenn

earned degrees in Interior Design and Fine Art and she currently

lives and works in the Granite Bay area.

The public is invited and refreshments will be served.

The Scholarship Committee met in early April and reviewed the applications for the

2017 Scholarship Award. We had five qualified applicants from Amador High School. We

interviewed the young ladies on April 11 at Amador High. Each of the young artists had

good skills and a wonderful appreciation for art. These young ladies are ready to take

their art to the new directions with modern technology. After consideration and

thought we are awarding the $1200 Scholarship to Katy Hirschfeld. She is truly an im-

pressive young lady. She maintained a 4.16 GPA and is ranked 6th in her class of 153. As

and artist she designed the Senior Class sweatshirts for 2017. She chaired A Taste of

the Arts, directed the Student Art Campaign Video, and is a California State Art Scholar

having attended the California State Summer School for the Arts in Southern California.

She has won numerous awards, volunteered at community events and is the Amador

Arts Student Director for 2016-2017. She will be attending UC Davis in the fall with a

double major in Mathematics and Art. Amy was adopted as a baby from China and has

lived in Amador County with her mother ever since. She loves family and thrives as she

works and achieves high goals. We are very proud to make this award to her.

Calaveras Art Council Veteran’s Project http://www.calaverasarts.org/calaveras-veterans-art-project.html

At the back of the Calaveras Art Council's Gallery is a staircase reminiscent of the staircase in Norman Rockwell's The Home-

coming G.I. Beginning the first Sunday of April (April 2) the staircase at the gallery will be decorated and models in period uni-

forms and costumes. The models will create scenes saluting our veterans; artists are encouraged to attend to gather inspiration.

Music of each period will add to the mood.

Each successive first Sunday—May 7, June 4, July 2, and August 6—will feature a different war, starting with World War I up to

the current conflicts. Artists, writers, and musicians are invited and encouraged to create work based on the models and decora-

tions, and to submit work for a gallery show.

Artwork created from the inspiring scenes will be displayed in the Council Gallery from Saturday, September 30 through Satur-

day, November 11, in honor of our Veterans. On Saturday, November 11—Veteran's Day—we will host a reception honoring

Veterans and artists. Attending artists will be featured in social media campaigns as well as press releases.

While as RSVP of your interest would be appreciated it is not required. There is no charge to participate although tipping the

models would be appreciated. You may come any time after 10:00 and stay as long as you want until 4 p.m.

Artwork created from the inspiring scenes will be displayed in the Council Gallery from Saturday, September 30 through Satur-

day, November 11, in honor of our Veterans. On Saturday, September 30 we'll have a special event celebrating the arts and our

veterans in San Andreas. On Saturday, November 11-Veterans Day-we will host a reception honoring Veterans and artists.
