1 DEAR FRIENDS OF SAGE METRO PORTLAND, Welcome to the SAGE Metro Portland PRIDE 2018 edition! This year’s Pride NW Theme is: Still Here, Still Queer. On Friday, June 8, Friendly House will be holding a Pride Block Party from 5–7 p.m. We’ll have drag performances, fairy hair extensions, an Earth loom installation, a photo booth, free food, and ice cream. There is no cost for this event and we hope you can join us to help kick off Pride! We are thrilled to host the Senior Tent at Pride once again. Please look or ask for the senior tent when arriving at the Pride Festival. We will be in a new location closer to the Morrison Bridge this time. We will announce our location on Facebook as soon as we know it! Also join SAGE in the Pride Parade! We will meet at 10 a.m, and the parade starts marching at 11 a.m. We do not know our contingent number or location for meeting as of yet. Please call Max Micozzi or Ian Alexander after June 4 for this information at 503- 224-2640. We have so much to be thankful for as well. Thank you LGBT trailblazers all over the world for paving this road of the last 50+ years. If not for the risks you took, the compromises you had to make and the lives you lead and changed, who knows what our lives would look like today. There is still a lot of work to be done though. Maintaining our rights and continuing the fight and assuring safety for our transgender and people of color community is a constant challenge. We also are tasked with assuring our elders don’t encounter prejudice and discrimination when accessing housing and healthcare—follow us on Facebook to see current petitions and actions you can take.
