Jeanne, ado de Nouvelle‐Calédonie 1. Bozu (Bonjour, en nengone) ! Je m’appelle Jeanne et j’ai 14 ans. Je suis née à Nouméa, la capitale de la Nouvelle‐Calédonie. Mes grands‐parents habitent sur Maré, une des îles Loyauté.

2. Ma vie à Nouméa

Quand je suis à Nouméa, je me lève tôt pour être au collège pour 7h. Mes matières préférées sont les mathématiques et le dessin. Je vais souvent à la bibliothèque pour lire des bandes dessinées. Je passe aussi beaucoup de temps à jouer aux jeux vidéo. Je joue avec mon père ou mon frère. J’aime passer du temps avec eux. Mon père et ma mère sont très importants pour moi. Mon père est chef de clan. C’est une sorte de grand frère qui montre le bon chemin à toute la tribu.

3. L’île de Maré

L’île de Maré se trouve à quatre heures de bateau de Nouméa. Dès que je suis en vacances, je vais sur l’île de Maré pour rendre visite à mes cousins. Chez eux, le réveil sonne à 4h30. C’est l’heure d’aller chercher le pain. Pour préparer le café, je fais chauffer de l’eau de pluie. Pendant la journée, je nage dans la mer et je fais de la pêche. La mer est à 50 mètres de la maison. J’aime aussi aller avec ma cousine dans les champs d’ananas et de légumes.

Sur l’île de Maré, tout est différent, surtout le rythme de vie. Ici, nous parlons le nengone, une langue locale très mélodieuse que j’adore. Je suis en train de l’apprendre à l’école.

4. L’avenir

J’ai un rêve – j’aimerais devenir psychologue pour aider les adultes et les enfants avec leurs problèmes. Mes parents m’encouragent à réaliser mon rêve. Même si je vais étudier en France quelques années pour devenir psychologue, c’est sûrement à Nouméa où je ferai ma vie. En gardant toujours une petite maison à Maré.
