Over the final week of term 1, our year 10 students parcipated in work experience as part of their careers course. The careers chosen

by our students were varied, ranging from the trades to healthcare, veterinary, journalism, beauty and many more. Our supporve local

businesses offered our students the opportunity to trial their career which was a wonderful learning experience for them. Some students

are even more enthusiasc to pursue their selected career, while others have come to the harsh realizaon that their chosen job was

definitely not what they expected and not what they would like to do for the rest of their lives!

“Dear Mrs MacDonald, It is with great pleasure that I inform you 2016 Innisfail State College senior, Ms Isabella Sharpe has been awarded the prestigious 2017 “Director’s Recommendation Scholarship” by International House Foundation Ltd. This Scholarship is competitive and based upon an evaluation of the applicant’s personal statement, academic performance, extracurricular and/or work activity, community and volunteer work and, personal recommendations from school principals or community leaders. The “Director’s Recommendation Scholarship” seeks to ensure the representation of residents at International House (IH) is well rounded in academic, leadership, community and professional development areas. The IH Scholarship selection panel was particularly impressed with Isabella’s submission, her clarity of expression, her level of commitment to volunteer and leadership roles in high school, and moving forward in her freshman university year her desire to make a difference in the area of social justice.
