3. Extras

With the Basics and the Safety Gear sorted, now there are the extras… A race watch will help them race smarter and faster as they get to the start line bang on time. Or perhaps the bigger purpose-built regatta race timer, which can be worn on the wrist or attached to the mast, will get them to the start right on time.

Cut the glare with some marine designed sunglasses – if they do fall off (some have a built-in retainer strap and they’re also available separately) they’ll float, though perhaps winning the race will come before any retrieval efforts. A hat or visor goes without saying. And finally, you’ll probably want all that soggy gear quarantined in a waterproof bag for the trip home.
