Hajj Day 2020
Salamu Alaykum,
On Wednesday students enjoyed their mini Hajj journey as they walked in
and out of the tents of ‘Mina’ and ‘A’rafah’. With their coloured scarves
sitting around their necks representing their groups, students showed a
sense of companionship and really embodied the spirit of Hajj as they
contemplated each step of the journey towards self-purification and
nearness to God.
Tawaf this year was like no other. With the Ka’ba resting on the roof of our
college, students were in awe as they made their way up the stairs and into
the open scenery. As tears rolled down some cheeks, it was at times hard to
believe that we were not standing in the heart of the holy city of Mecca.
As the days of Eid roll in, we would like to wish all families a safe and blessed
Eid al Adha.
We are indebted to brothers Ali Haidar and Haidar Ademi for their sincere
service and generosity on building and delivering the new Ka’ba as a gift to
the college. We pray Allah (swt) grants them the company of the original
builder of the Ka’ba in the next world nchallah.
Fimanallah.

KC WEEKLY BULLETIN
Asalamu Alaykum,
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to an exciting term 3!
PYJAMA DAY:
Last week, KC participated in Bellfield’s very first PYJAMA DAY to raise money and
bring awareness to kids in foster care. As part of the day’s activities, kindergarten
designed some beautiful pyjamas using craft materials and enjoyed a movie afternoon
with popcorn and juice.
ART:
In Creative Arts this week, KC has been learning about our animals and the kinds of
skins/coats these animals have. This week kindergarten students created a turtle
shell using watercolours. Students could identify that turtles have a hard shell that
is smooth and have large, rough flippers so they are able to glide through the water.
Next week we will be looking at the scales of a fish and creating the textures of the
fish using aluminium foil.
NUMERACY:
Throughout Numeracy lessons, students engaged in lots of fun and creative maths
play. We are learning to identify numbers that are bigger or smaller than another by
using different objects such as blocks, magnets and dinosaurs. Next week we will be
learning about length and how we can sort objects from longest to shortest.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY:
In Science and Technology lessons, KC is learning about our material world and the
different properties of glass, metal, wood and plastic. We are very excited to help
design a brand new playground for kindergarten students!
EXTRA CURRICULAR:
Kindergarten are super excited to begin our gymnastics lessons next week as well as
our Taronga Zoo incursion the week after where the zookeepers will be bringing some
animals for us to learn about!
AWARDS:
Students in KC have been working very hard to collect merit awards and last week
was the first assembly Miss Cardinale was able to hand out KCs very first Stage
Coordinator awards! Big congratulations to Soraya, Erha, Ali and Ayaan. Keep
working hard and collecting those merit awards boys and girls! ☺
We are looking forward to more fun, learning and events throughout Term 3!
Kind regards,
Miss Cardinale
Hajj one of the branches of religion, Kindergarten learned what Haj is and why we
as Muslims perform Haj. They were busy making and creating the Kaaba and exploring
the different rituals that are performed at haj. They worked tirelessly in the last
two weeks learning about the annual pilgrimage (Haj). They learned about the
different rituals of Haj, they explored what each ritual is about and why it is
performed. They learned and recited the words of talbiyah during Tawaf. Dressed in
their white Haj garments they had the opportunity to perform Tawaf around the
school’s very own Kaaba. They watched the re-enactment of the story of Lady Hajar
and Prophet Ibrahim (PBUT) and the water of Zamzam flowing miraculously out of
the ground between the mountains of Safa and Marwa. They listened to the story of
Rajem and why it is peformed in Haj. Through their art and class work they
demonstrated their passion to learn about the pilgrimage to Allah the creator of the
universe.
May Allah grant them this Holy visit to Haj, May Allah keep them among the guided
ones.
“Haj Mabroor wa Sa’ai mashkoor” to all the little Haji’s in Kindergarten.
Eid Mubarak to all our students, parents and caregivers.
