Aim of Scheme

• To design a piece of wearable art from recycled materials and found objects in couture style - to be entered into Junk Kouture Competition. Deadline – 3 weeks.

Class Profile 4th years 22 pupilsScheme duration 16 weeks (2 x 40 minutes per week + extra classes)

Lesson 1Research- Pupils will familiarise themselves with Junk Kouture competition and Couture style and review materials they have been collecting already within their groups.

Lesson 2Construction techniques – Visual Aids and Demonstrations.- Pupils will experiment with different materials and construction techniques.- Pupils will produce samples of textile construction techniques, including weaving, twisting and plaiting using unconventional materials.

-MARKETING

- Pupils will be able to work together as a group in making banners for the final.- Pupils will be able to research different types of postersand fonts for poster and flyer design.- Pupils will discuss suitable places to advertise posters and flyers.-Pupils will delegate within group who will collect money and- who will distribute flyers.-Pupils will advertise the dress online and inform friends- and family to vote .

Summary of learning and teaching Issues.The Pupil:-Pupils developed an awareness and appreciation of art and design throughout -this project.-designers, construction techniques, materials used, 2-d and 3-d work, fashion Design, graphic design, IT skills.-Pupils developed good communication skills, team skills, leadership skills, Problem solving and good organisational skills.-They also developed an enthusiasm for art and a lot want to do art for Leaving Cert.

The Teacher:-As a teacher, I learned many skills throughout this project-- Organisational skills, Time-management, Team skills, Marketing skills, communication skills.- I learned how to manage groups and create a positive environment for teaching. - I learned how to motivate and also mediate within the class group on all tasks.- I learned how to delegate responsibility to ensure that all tasks were completed successfully and to the best of the pupils ability.
