Jupiter

Hello, my name is Julie and today I am going to be talking to you about Jupiter!! Jupiter is one of the largest planets in the solar system, and is the 3rd planet in line from the sun. Jupiter spins really fast. Did you know one day on Jupiter is 10 hours on earth? Jupiter’s middle core is stretched out, and the planet rather than round its short and fat. Jupiter is the biggest planet in the solar system. Jupiter is a very stormy planet. There are storms found throughout the atmosphere, most storms never seem to end like the storm on Jupiter.

The Red Spot

Jupiter’s Great Red Spot(GRS) is a storm that has been raging in Jupiter’s southern Hemisphere for at least 400 years. 100 years ago, the storm covered over 40,000 km of the surface. It is currently about one half of that size and seems to be shrinking. At the present rate that it is shrinking it could become circular by 2040. Scientists doubt that this will happen because of the effect of neighboring jet streams. The red spot is also called “The Eye of Jupiter” because of its shape.
