World History: My World History, Pearson Textbook Students will be exploring different cultures all around the world and the interaction between humans and the environment. We will focus on understanding how emerging societies are shaped by geography. Students will investigate the creation, expansion, and interaction of social structures. Civics: Civics Economic & Geography The course is designed to explore the branch of political science that deals with civic affairs and the rights and duties of citizens. We will focus on how the people play an active role in government and the importance each citizen contributes to society. Students will actively investigate local, state and national issues, read and participate in discussions, and develop informed arguments using a variety of writing forms.

COURSE OUTLINE Students learn the basics of building a character through such activities as pantomime, improvisation, and effective speaking using articulation, projection, and breathing. Students also learn the importance of technical theatre and explore the use of such elements as costumes, props, and scenery. Students practice writing for the theatre and explore various theatre roles and functions. Public performances may serve as a culmination of specific instructional goals. Students may be required to attend and/or participate in rehearsals and performances outside the school day to support, extend, and assess learning in the classroom.

Course Overview: Robotics is the specialized type of engineering that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots. We will be using the Vex IQ platform, a system that was designed to be simple and easy for students to use.

Ms. A. Rodriguez Course Overview The Graphic Design & Photography course presents the students with an introduction to fundamentals of graphic design and photography. This course will allow middle school students to learn the basic skills and techniques using programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator suite to create multimedia art while incorporating history and process of commercial art.
Objectives: • The physical education program will allow the students to
participate in developmentally age appropriate physical activities.
• We will develop and reinforce cooperative behaviors.
• We will also teach the students how to establish life long fitness goals.

Truancy
Tardy Policy: • Students who are not in their classroom at 9:00
a.m. will be marked tardy. • Any student who arrives late must report to the
receptionist for a late pass. • All tardies are unexcused. If a student exceeds 10
unexcused tardies, the student will be issued a referral.
• Students that are tardy are not eligible for perfect attendance certificates.
Excused Absences: • A note from a parent must be submitted to the homeroom
teacher within 48 hours upon return to school. • Absences of more than 5 consecutive days must be excused
with a doctor’s note. • What is considered an excused absence?
• Personal illness of the student. • Medical appointment with a note (parent note not
accepted). • Observance of a district approved religious holiday. • Death in the immediate family.
Truancy
Unexcused Absences: A referral will be issued to students who accumulate five unexcused absences. What is considered an excused absence?
