Featuring a distinctiveexterior design and spa-ciously refined interiors, the automaker is focusedon economy and conven-ience for 2010.

Offered in regular, extended and crew cabstyles, the Silverado fea-tures three cargo boxlengths – 5 ft 8 in, 6 ft 6in, and 8 ft. Boasting asophisticated exteriordesigned with a strong andrefined appearance, theSilverado looks muscularand capable – even stand-ing still.

Power for the Chevroletpickup truck is providedby a host of light-dutyVortec truck engines. Thisroster of motive powerincludes: 4.3L V6, 4.8LV8, 5.3L V8 and a 6.0L V8.E85 FlexFuel capability isnow standard on 4.8L,5.3L and 6.2L engines.

New-for-2010 variablevalve timing on 4.8L and5.3L engines improves fueleconomy.

Torque is transferred tothe ground through thetried-and-true Hydra-Matic 4L60 four-speedautomatic transmission. The Hydra-Matic 6L80six-speed automatictransmission is standardon regular and extendedcab models equipped withthe 5.3L V-8.

The six-speed trans-mission helps theSilverado achieve betterfuel efficiency on thehighway through lower“cruising” rpm – less fuelis used with the lowerengine speed. The reducedengine speed alsoenhances interior quiet-ness.

Consumers can alsochoose between a two- orfour-wheel driveline con-figuration for the bestapplication of cargo haul-ing and vehicle traction. A3.08 axle ratio and fuelsaver mode is now stan-dard with 5.3L V-8 forimproved fuel economy –including 15 city / 21 hwyfor 2WD and 4WD modelswhile the Silverado XFEgets a bump in highway

fuel economy to 22.The Chevrolet Silverado

delivers enhanced stabilityand driving confidencefrom a boxed frame that isstrong and stiff. A hydro-formed front sectionenhances both the smoothride characteristics andcrash protection.

A three-inch wide fronttrack and one-inch widerear track facilitates stabil-ity as well as a smooth, controlled ride – particu-larly when cornering orwith a full load. A coil-over-shock front suspen-sion is mounted to theframe via a high-strength,precise attachment systemfor exceptional rigidityand delivers a linear, responsive ride thatenhances the truck’s fullyplanted driving feel. TheSilverado offers five differ-ent suspension systems, each tailored to suit spe-cific driving requirements.

Inside the passengercabin, the Silverado is spa-

cious with plenty of stor-age space, creature com-forts and convenience.Flush surfaces, tight gapsand tolerances suggest acrafted interior of aboveaverage quality. Largercontrols and door handlesare designed to work wellwith gloves. Some upmar-ket models are equippedwith a 40/20/40-spiltfront bench seat whichfeatures a fold-down arm-rest and storage compart-ment.

A large capacity, “dou-ble” glove box is integratedinto the instrument panelon entry level models.

Standard on crew cabmodels and available onextended cab models is astadium-style rear seatwith a 60/40-split design. It can easily be folded upto provide an uninterrupt-ed load floor. Either sec-tion of the split seat can bestowed independently, allowing room for bothcargo and a rear-seat pas-

senger.Extended cab models

feature improved access tothe back of the passengercompartment with rearaccess doors that open 170degrees.

Newly standard featuresfor 2010 include: side cur-tain air bags and seat-mounted side air bags;USB connectivity on allradios (except base),enabling stored audio filesto play through the audiosystem and battery charg-ing for some handhelddevices; revised interiordoor trim; rearview cam-era available on moremodels; and StabiliTrakelectronic control system.

finish can rust? Add some freezing temperatures and asmall problem can quickly escalate to a larger, moreexpensive one. Luckily, fixing scratches is quick, easyand affordable, thanks to products such as Dupli-Color’s Scratch Fix 2in1 touch-up paint. Available inthousands of col-ors to perfectlymatch your vehi-cle’s paint, andfeaturing apatented applica-tor for precisionand control, any-one can achieveprofessionallooking resultsthat will repairand protect yourvehicle’s appear-ance ... and helpyou avoid an uglyproblem nextspring.

Tired out: Oneof the most important aspects of winterization isensuring you have a safe grip on the road. Like the solesof shoes that prevent you from slipping, quality tireshelp keep your vehicle securely on the road, especiallyin slippery rain or snow conditions. Checking tire treadand pressure is important to ensure you have optimaltraction. If you live in a particularly snow-prone orrural area, you might also consider buying snow tiresand/or chains.

Engine protection: Extreme temperatures can causemajor issues in a vehicle’s engine, so testing yourcoolant system before winter is very important.Checking the level and concentration of anti-freeze inyour vehicle could save you costly engine repair andshould be done twice every year. Choose an extendedlife coolant for ultimate protection, which can be usedin nearly any year, make or model vehicle worldwide.

Travel prepared: In case something does happen toyour vehicle this winter and you’re stranded for anextended period of time, it’s important to keep a fewessential items on board. Assemble an emergency kitcontaining a blanket, gloves, ice scraper, flares, flash-light, jumper cables and basic first aid items. Make sureto also carry a cell phone when you travel, particularlyif bad weather is expected.

Simple tips to

keep your vehicle

running its bestAll motorists want

their vehicle to last on theroad and perform at itsbest. As the summerfinally begins to winddown, it’s important tomake sure your car isproperly prepared forcooler weather and week-end road trips.

Since a car is typicallythe second largest invest-ment Americans make, and families are nowkeeping their vehicleslonger than ever, protect-ing and maintaining thisinvestment is key to keep-ing cars running smoothlyand efficiently.

Sometimes vehiclemaintenance can be one ofthe more daunting aspectsof automobile ownership. For many drivers, spend-ing a few hours under thehood or taking their carinto the dealer can be likehaving a tooth pulled -necessary, but painful.

With a little planningand some willpower, thereare a few smart and easyways to get your vehicleready for the road. Thekey is to plan ahead andknow the basics. Beloware a few essential main-tenance tips from Longthat can pay off in thelong run.Change your oil regularly

A regular oil change isthe service most likely tohelp prolong the life ofyour vehicle, and it’sespecially important tokeep in mind before youhead out on any long roadtrips. Changing the oil,not just topping it off, with a high-quality motoroil that meets the specifi-cations recommended byyour vehicle’s manufac-turer can help your engineget the lubricant protec-tion it needs.Protect critical engine parts

Just because you can’tsee a problem, doesn’tmean it’s not there. Beforetaking a long trip or if youdrive a lot, visit a trustedprofessional and makesure your car is properlytuned. According to theU.S. Department ofEnergy, regular vehiclemaintenance can improvegas mileage by an averageof 4 percent.

If your car is experi-encing poor fuel economy, decreased horsepower, hesitation and/or roughidling, consider using afuel additive to help yourvehicle’s critical engineparts work more efficient-ly.

With a comprehensiverange of product formula-tions for just about everytype of car, truck, dieselor flex-fuel vehicle, allGumout Fuel SystemCleaners are a one-stopvehicle maintenance sup-plier. All Gumout FuelSystem Cleaners helpreduce carbon buildupdeposits and emissions.By removing deposits inthe fuel system, the com-bustion efficiency isimproved, which in turnimproves miles per gallon(MPG) and performance.Keep your tires properlyinflated

Make sure your tiresare at the correct pressureand not over- or under-inflated. According to theU.S. Department ofEnergy, keeping tires atthe correct pressure canimprove your gasolinemileage by about 3.3 per-cent.

Proper air pressure isalso essential for automo-tive safety and optimumdriving performance.Use quality gasoline anddon’t run on empty

A number of con-sumers have switched tolow-quality gasoline dueto the struggling econo-my.

That’s understandable, but what most peopledon’t know is that lower-quality gasoline can leavebehind carbon depositsthat can rob the vehicle ofperformance which mayreduce gas mileage.Gumout PerformanceChemicals are designed toclean and protect criticalparts in your car.

Prepare for fall hunting trips

What you need to do to preparefor your fall camping trip

When the weather cools down, there’s no reason the active seasonneeds to end. As campgroundsbecome less crowded and theweather cools down, fall conditionscan make for some of the morepleasant outdoor experiences. Andlet’s not forget it’s also hunting sea-son.

If you’re used to only gettingoutdoors in the summer, you’re infor a whole new experience withthe crisp air, fresh scents and col-orful leaves that come along with ashift in the season. Before you headout, take a look at this checklist toensure you and your belongingsremain warm and dry:

Bring more clothes than you’llthink you’ll need. You can alwaysput more clothes on, as long as youhave them. In cold weather, it’s justas important to stay dry, as it is tostay warm. So if you work up asweat with your afternoon activity,it’s a good idea to change into dryclothes for the evening.

Concentrate on keeping yourhands, feet and head warm. Theseare common places for heat toescape your body. Dry-fit socks area good investment to keep your feetwarm. You may also find that the

extra pair of gloves or the hand-warmers you packed will go a longway toward keeping you toasty.

If you plan on being outside alot, a campfire will keep you warmall night. Make sure you haveenough wood and scout out placeswhere you can buy firewood beforeyou head out. Transporting woodover long distances is not recom-mended, as you can unwittinglytransport invasive species like theemerald ash borer. Depending onthe size of the fire, dryness andtype of wood, a bundle of wood willlast one to two hours.

If you plan on camping, makesure you have a properly ratedsleeping bag. Most sleeping bagscome with ratings that will tell youthe lowest temperature at which

they’llremain com-fortable.

 Asyou’ll proba-bly needmore gear fora cold-weather out-doors trip,consideroptions forstoring it. Ifthere’s no
