For students considering Pre-‐University Programmes
Junior Colleges (JCs) & Millennia Ins;tute
Prepares students for the GCE ‘A’ Level Examina1on
Length of study: JCs – 2 years
MI – 3 years
Cut-‐off Points: To enter a JC: L1R5 must be ≤ 20 To enter MI: L1R4 must be ≤ 20
What does one study at the ‘A’ Levels?
H1 H2 H3 Half of H2 in terms of curriculum 1me
Equivalent to ‘A’ Level subjects prior to 2006.
Subjects with opportunity for in-‐depth study (e.g. advanced content, research paper, university module).
Select content subjects from three levels of study:
Usual subject combina;on: three H2s + one H1 content subjects (one which must be contras;ng) + General Paper* + Project Work*
* Offered at H1 level
What are the subjects available? The JCs and MI offer a variety of subjects. Applicants should check the website of the respec;ve JCs/MI for more details on the subject combina1ons offered by each of the JCs/MI and the pre-‐requisites, where applicable, to offer each subject. Applicants eligible for the Chinese/Malay Language Elec1ve Programme (CLEP/MLEP) and who wish to apply for the programme should apply through JAE-‐Internal system as well. JAE
• Joint Admissions Exercise • Conducted annually to allow GCE ‘O’ Level students to apply for admission to courses offered by JC, MI, Poly and ITE
JPSAE
• Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise • Aims to make available the polytechnic educa1on to students with special ap1tude and talents
DAE
• Direct Admissions Exercise • Conducted separately by each polytechnic • Visit the relevant polytechnic’ websites or contact the relevant polytechnic directly for more details.

Students must also qualify for the minimum entry requirements for the course they want to pursue.

2. Through the Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE)
The polytechnics will consider 1) students who demonstrate outstanding talents/achievements in leadership, community service, entrepreneurship, sports, ar1s1c and crea1ve areas

2) students with a strong passion or ap;tude demonstrated through work abachments, sustained involvement in course-‐related projects, outstanding performance in compe11ons like the Maths/Science Olympiad
*Each polytechnic has the discretion to determine its modes of assessment of students' talents. Each polytechnic will also set its own selection criteria.
2. Through the Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE)
Entry into Poly
Applica;on: Aaer the release of the GCE ‘O’ Level results and concurrently with JAE.
Applicants will be assessed through different modes such as porholios and interviews.
More info on JAE and JPSAE
• Students can par1cipate in both JAE and JPSAE concurrently but can only accept one offer.
• Results for JPSAE will be released in end Jan 2016 (tenta1ve), one day aier the release of JAE pos1ng results.
• Please refer to www.polytechnic.edu.sg for more info.
• The DAE is conducted separately by each polytechnic. • ‘O’ Level holders should apply through the JAE first before
considering DAE. • The applica1on for DAE typically closes before the
commencement of the polytechnic term in April.
• Students interested to par1cipate in DAE should visit the individual polytechnics’ websites or contact the relevant polytechnics directly.

The Arts Ins;tu;ons Courses are hands-
on with a focus in the visual and
performing arts (e.g. Design, Animation, Fine Arts, Media, Dance, Music).
