La scoperta della Juta - dagli antichi chiamata “fibra d’oro” per la caratteristica lucentezza dorata - è stata per noi una rivelazione: un materiale povero ma di grande effetto, 100% biodegradabile e riciclabile, ecosostenibile e robusto; l’elemento perfetto per lo sviluppo di prodotti ricercati dal design raffinato.

Abbiamo trovato il miglior “tessuto d’oro” in India, nelle pianure del Bengala. Qui la Juta viene estratta dalla fibra e dalla scorza del fusto delle piante di tiglio. Ci siamo battuti con i produttori locali affinché salvaguardas-sero il processo di produzione nel tempo, mantenendo l’antico metodo di lavorazione tramandato da generazioni. Nulla doveva essere geneticamente modificato o alterato, soprattutto durante il processo di crescita delle piante. Rispettare l’intero ciclo di ma-turazione dell’arbusto (4-6 mesi) e utilizza-re solo rimedi naturali invece che pesticidi o fertilizzanti, è stata per noi una priorità.

JUTA La fibra d’oro

The desire to offer a considerate choice based on an eco-friendly, economically, feasible way in relation to clothing and furnishings has led Jute & Co to carry out a careful study of natural materials, supported by a meticulous listening and research activities in the field.

Jute’s discovery - called as the “golden fibre” from the ancient times to the characteristic golden gloss - was a revelation for us: a poor material with an immense impact dynamic, 100% biodegradable and recyclable, eco-sustainable and robust; the perfect element to develop a refined product, with a sophisticated design.

We found the greatest “golden fabric” in India, on the plains of Bengal. Here, the Jute is extracted from the fibres and the crust of the stem of Tiliace-ae plants family. Similarly, we came into terms with the local producers to safeguard the production process over time, keeping the old method of processing handed down obviously for generations.

Nothing was to be genetically modified or altered, particular-ly during the growth process of the plant. Respecting, the whole cycle of ripening of the bush (around 4-6 months) and using only natural remedies instead of pesticides or fertilizers, was also an utmost prece-dence for us.

Cultivating Jute is therefore an extreme-ly clean process, altogether ecologically advantageous from the point of view of water: all thanks to the rainy climate of the Indian region, where the plantations are largely rain fed and need no further

irrigation.

These are some of the reasons that led us to love this material and also its flexibility. Jute can be woven in thread, is reliable and is used for the production of fabrics, shoes, carpets, rugs and bags. But not only had this, since bestowed

with the high degree of strength and high breathability of the fabric, Jute, is

Coltivare la juta è quindi un processo estremamente pulito, ecologicamente vincente anche dal punto di vista idrico: grazie al clima pluviale della regione in-diana infatti, le piantagioni sono ampia-mente alimentate dalla pioggia e non ne-cessitano di ulteriore irrigazione.

Questi sono solo alcuni dei motivi che ci hanno portato ad amare questo materia-le, complice anche la sua versatilità. La Juta può essere filata in fili grezzi e robu-sti e viene utilizzata per la produzione di tessuti, scarpe, tappeti e borse. Ma non solo. Dato l’elevato grado di resistenza e l’alta traspirazione del tessuto, la Juta è anche utilizzata per costruire i pannelli degli aeroplani. L’avresti mai detto?
