ABSTRACT The batteries form a significant parts

of many electronic devices. Typical electrochemical batteries convert chemical energy into electrical energy.Batteries are classified into two types based on charging ability. They are 1.Primary cells 2.Secondary cells Secondary cells are widely used because of their rechargeable nature.

HISTORY In August 2007, a research team of senior professors “Ann and John H . Board Bent , Om karam Nalamasu ” developed the paper battery.

paper battery is also known as “ NANO COMPOSITE PAPER “.

DEFINATION Paper batteries= Paper + Carbon Nano tubes(CNT)

A Paper battery is a flexcible , ultra thin energy storage device made of cellulose(paper) and Carbon Nano tubes. A Paper battery can act as a super capacitor and also as a high energy battery.

CARBON NANO TUBES

Carbon Nano tubes are also known as BUCKY TUBES. Carbon Nano tubes is a tube shaped material, made of carbon , having a diameter measuring on the Nano scale. Carbon Nano tubes is the main component behind paper battery. Carbon Nano tubes have many structures differing in length , thickness and number of layers.

SEPERATOR (PAPER)

The Seperator seperates the Anode and Cathode.

The Seperator acts as a barrier preventing the anode and cathode from touching each other.

CONSTRUCTION

Take a cellulose based paper and apply black carbon ink on it…..

Spread this ink by applying it on the paper…..

Heat the cellulose paper in an oven , preheated at 150 degree centigrade…..

Then peel off the film from the substrate…….

Then the probes are connected to an LED and we have our paper battery……..

ADVANTAGES It is flexible and very high weight.

It is recyclable.

It is rechargeable.

It is non-toxic.

It fuctions as a battery as well as a capacitor.

very expensive.

Generate e-waste by paper battery.

Paper battery may damage lungs if it is inhaled.

It is used in automobiles and air crafts.

It is used in microprocessor.

CONCLUSION The life of a battery is an important parameter which decides the area of application of battery.They can be made in virtually any shape and size to meet the requirements of each application. The batteries are rechargeable, and have reduced cost and weight which in itself may give birth to new applications. Paper battery could solve all the problems associated with electrical energy storage.These paper batteries may further reduce the weight of the electrical gadgets.Flexible paper batteries could meet the energy demnads of the next generation of gadgets.
