Course Purposes K-2 – Students will develop physical skills and begin to demonstrate various levels of fitness. 3-5 – Students will show improvement in physical fitness levels along with necessary skills to perform a variety of physical activities while continuing regular participation in physical activity. 6 – Students will participate in various team sports/leisure activities while showing beginning sports skills. They will measure and show improvement of their physical fitness level. They will demonstrate basic water safety skills. 7-8 – The students will participate in various team sports/leisure activities while showing intermediate sports skills. Physical Education K-5 Course Purpose Students will develop physical skills and begin to demonstrate various levels of fitness. PE.K-5.01 The student will demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. PE.K-‐5.01.01 The student will demonstrate developmentally appropriate nonlocomotor skills (e.g. balance, weight transfer, stretching) according to table 3.1 of the National Standards for SHAPE America. PE.K-‐5.01.02 The student will demonstrate developmentally appropriate locomotor skills (e.g. skip, gallop, run, slide, leap, dance) according to table 3.1 of the National Standards for SHAPE America. PE.K-‐5.01.03 The student will demonstrate developmentally appropriate use of manipulatives (e.g. throw, catch, dribble, kick, volley, striking, jump rope) as explained in the table 3.1 of the National Standards for SHAPE America. PE.K-5.02 The student will apply knowledge of concepts, principals, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance. Course Purposes 6 – Students will participate in various team sports/leisure activities while showing beginning sports skills. They will measure and show improvement of their physical fitness level. They will demonstrate basic water safety skills. 7-8 – The students will participate in various team sports/leisure activities while showing intermediate sports skills. They will measure and show improvement of their physical fitness level.
6th Grade PE.06.01 Students will demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. PE.06.01.01 Students will demonstrate correct rhythm and pattern for one of the following dance forms: folk, social, creative, line or world dance.
