 Course  Purposes  K-­2  –  Students  will  develop  physical  skills  and  begin  to  demonstrate  various  levels  of  fitness.    3-­5  –  Students  will  show  improvement  in  physical  fitness  levels  along  with  necessary  skills  to  perform  a  variety  of  physical  activities  while  continuing  regular  participation  in  physical  activity.    6  –  Students  will  participate  in  various  team  sports/leisure  activities  while  showing  beginning  sports  skills.    They  will  measure  and  show  improvement  of  their  physical  fitness  level.    They  will  demonstrate  basic  water  safety  skills.    7-­8  –  The  students  will  participate  in  various  team  sports/leisure  activities  while  showing  intermediate  sports  skills.    They  will  measure  and  show  improvement  of  their  physical  fitness  level.    9-­10  –  Students  will:  Improve  fitness  levels  Improve  knowledge  and  skill  levels  of  activities  Apply  safety  procedures  and  practices  in  the  fitness  center  Apply  healthy  choices  in  maintaining  the  wellness  of  themselves  and  others    11-­12  –  Students  will:  Improve  fitness  levels  Improve  knowledge  and  skill  levels  of  activities  Apply  safety  procedures  and  practices  in  the  fitness  center    Advanced  Fitness  Students  will  improve  total  body  strength  and  flexibility  as  well  as  improve  speed  and  agility  

Physical  Education  K-­5    Course  Purpose    Students  will  develop  physical  skills  and  begin  to  demonstrate  various  levels  of  fitness.    PE.K-­5.01  The  student  will  demonstrate  competency  in  a  variety  of  motor  skills  and  movement  patterns.  PE.K-­‐5.01.01  The  student  will  demonstrate  developmentally  appropriate  nonlocomotor  skills  (e.g.  balance,  weight  transfer,  stretching)  according  to  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standards  for  SHAPE  America.    PE.K-­‐5.01.02  The  student  will  demonstrate  developmentally  appropriate  locomotor  skills  (e.g.  skip,  gallop,  run,  slide,  leap,  dance)  according  to  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standards  for  SHAPE  America.  PE.K-­‐5.01.03  The  student  will  demonstrate  developmentally  appropriate  use  of  manipulatives  (e.g.  throw,  catch,  dribble,  kick,  volley,  striking,  jump  rope)  as  explained  in  the  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standards  for  SHAPE  America.    PE.K-­5.02  The  student  will  apply  knowledge  of  concepts,  principals,  strategies  and  tactics  related  to  movement  and  performance.  PE.K-­‐5.02.01  The  student  will  demonstrate  developmentally  appropriate  movement  concepts    (e.g.  space,  shapes,  pathways,  speed,  direction,  force,  strategies  &  tactics)  according  to  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standards  for  SHAPE  America.    PE.K-­5.03  The  student  will  demonstrate  the  knowledge  and  skills  to  achieve  and  maintain  a  health-­enhancing  level  of  physical  activity  and  fitness.  PE.K-­‐5.03.01  –  The  student  will  identify  physical  activity  and  fitness  knowledge  according  to  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standards  for  SHAPE  America.  PE.K-­‐5.03.02  –  The  student  will  engage  in  physically  activity  according  to  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standards  for  SHAPE  America.  PE.K-­‐5.03.03  –  The  student  will  complete  fitness  assessments  according  to  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standards  for  SHAPE  America.  PE.K-­‐5.03.04  –  The  student  will  identify  nutrition  according  to  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standards  for  SHAPE  America.    PE.K-­5.04  The  student  will  exhibit  responsible,  personal  and  social  behavior  that  respects  self  and  others.  PE.K-­‐5.04.01  –  The  student  will  demonstrate  personal  responsibility,  accept  feedback,  work  with  others,  follows  rules  and  etiquette  and  safety  according  to  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standards  for  SHAPE  America.    PE.K-­5.05  The  student  will  recognize  the  value  of  physical  activity  for  health,  enjoyment,  challenge,  self-­expression  and  /  or  social  interaction.  P.E.K-­‐5.05.01  The  student  will  identify  health,  challenge  and  self-­‐expression  /  enjoyment  according  to  table  3.1  of  the  National  Standard  for  SHAPE  America

Course  Purposes  6  –  Students  will  participate  in  various  team  sports/leisure  activities  while  showing  beginning  sports  skills.    They  will  measure  and  show  improvement  of  their  physical  fitness  level.    They  will  demonstrate  basic  water  safety  skills.  7-­8  –  The  students  will  participate  in  various  team  sports/leisure  activities  while  showing  intermediate  sports  skills.    They  will  measure  and  show  improvement  of  their  physical  fitness  level.
