There is a locally runcinema, thought to be one of the oldestpurpose built cinemas in the country.Leiston has its own primary and highschools and is home to Summerhill, one ofthe most famous Free Schools in the world.

Neighbouring Saxmundham is five milesaway. Here you can catch the train toIpswich, just 39 minutes away, while you canreach London Liverpool Street in just undertwo hours. By road, the A12 at Saxmundhamleads towards London or Great Yarmouthand links to the A14 at Ipswich.
