Leiston has a long history with theoriginal ruins of Leiston Abbey datingback to 1363. With some spectaculararchitectural features Leiston Abbey isamong Suffolk’s most impressive monasticruins. This rural town is also a haven forwalkers and cyclists. It is located near tothe coast and the RSPB’s Minsmere naturereserve, a designated area of outstandingnatural beauty. Closer to home, a smallerreserve is renowned for its kingfishersand nearly 20 varieties of dragonfly.

Leiston has its own leisure centre withswimming and gym facilities, a large Co-opsupermarket, post office, library, pubs anda range of smaller stores to meet youreveryday needs. There is a locally runcinema, thought to be one of the oldestpurpose built cinemas in the country.Leiston has its own primary and highschools and is home to Summerhill, one ofthe most famous Free Schools in the world.

Neighbouring Saxmundham is five milesaway. Here you can catch the train toIpswich, just 39 minutes away, while you canreach London Liverpool Street in just undertwo hours. By road, the A12 at Saxmundhamleads towards London or Great Yarmouthand links to the A14 at Ipswich.
