Enhancing cargo operationsKongsberg Maritime and Consultas have joined forces to enhance their range of products and system solutions, with particular emphasis on the loading computer system solution. By bringing the two organisations together, we have created a centre of excellence to provide existing and new customers with products and services that deliver the optimum in operational safety and efficiency.

K-Load by KongsbergKongsberg takes K-Load a step further. It utilises a 3D model of the vessels’ hydrostatic – a full geometric definition of the vessels – as the basis for the calculation of loading conditions, floating position and stability, and longitudinal strength. This creates a precise description of the actual loading conditions, dispensing with the need to rely on precomputed tables, simplifications or assumptions. The result is exactly what you have – no dead freight or overload. By utilising the full geometrical definition of the vessel as the basis for the computation, additional applications have been developed to improve the load planning and condition handling.

These include applications relating to water ballast distribution, water ballast exchange, damage stability and other factors.

Improve your turn around timeWith K-Load you have a powerful tool for planning the complete loading and discharging operation of your vessel. The operations can be planned in detail, increasing safety and efficiency. The planned operation and detailed sequences can be communicated with your shore operation, further increasing the level of efficient safe operation within company guidelines.The planning and simulation tools assist in optimising turn around time in ports, thus yielding a return on investment in the space of just months of operation. Load planning can be done from office by using K-Load manager or C-Stowage.

Stand alone or fully integrated – your optionK-Load is available as a stand-alone solution, or fully integrated into the Kongsberg Tanker Management System. When integrated, applications for planning and automated execution of loading and discharge operations are available.

The K-Load solution is type approved by DNV and Lloyd’s Register, ensuring the inherent high quality of the product and the calculated results it delivers. Other classification societies are also available.

Operate with confidence K-Load fully supports previous versions of Consultas Loading, with an easy-to-use intuitive user interface. The K-Load interface is fully supported by a comprehensive, context sensitive user guide.

The K-Load display shows the floating position of the vessel. When configured to be transparent, the model gives a clear and lucid overview of deadweight items. Tanks and compartments are displayed with the grade colour of their contents and show the exact filling levels. The position of the camera can be easily changed using the mouse and scroll wheel.

The K-Load office application, working together with Ship@Web, enables online communication and data exchange between office and vessel. The office can ex- change loading conditions with each individual vessels in operators fleet, with the system accurately reproducing those on board loading conditions.

The K-Load home office application further supports safety and timely executed operation of vessels by monitoring and supporting loading and unloading opera- tions.

Online communication is provided by the Kongsberg Ship@Web system, which is designed to enable continuous access to primary vessel data, both on board the vessel and from the shore.

Furthermore, Ship@Web also provides remote support in case of operational or technical problems on board the vessel – saving the ship owner time and cost.In emergency situations, the Remote Assistance application may also be used to pro- vide key information to emergency support centres, such as DNV, GL or others.
