LETTERS TO THE EDITORParked cars block pavement at

7th Avenue -Postal Colony junctionSir, A car mechanic

shop at the junction of7th Avenue and PostalColony 3rd Street,Ashok Nagar is mis-using the road marginand the pavement infront of the shop forparking a number ofvehicles.

The vehicles and thetools kept on the pave-ment block the way forpedestrians, forcing them to walk on the road thereby risking their lives.

They also obstruct the free movement of vehicles as the carriagewaygets blocked at the junction.

I appeal to traffic police to take action against the unauthorisedparking of the cars on the pavement and road margin. R.Krishnamurthy, 12/35, Velu Street, West Mambalam.

Pedestrian woes inBrindavan Street Extn.

Sir, Brindavan Street Extn., which connectsWest Mambalam and Ashok Nagar, is chokedwith traffic during peak hours.

MTC buses, water tankers, school/collegebuses and other vehicles ply on this road. Thisroad is misused as a permanent parking lot bycar and truck owners who park their vehicleson both sides, thereby encroaching on the wayfor pedestrians, especially senior citizenswhose lives are put at risk as they are forcedto walk on the road.

No action is being taken by the traffic au-thorities against this illegal parking in spite ofseveral complaints made by the residents ofthe street. Two years back during a publicgrievance meeting, the police officials assuredresidents that parking would be allowed only onone side of the road, but the rule has not beenimplemented till date.

I appeal to the Traffic Dept. to allow parkingonly on one side of the road. S.Krishnamoorthy, 4, Mathanghi Flats, 27,Brindavan Street Extn., West Mambalam,96264 25754

commuters.Further, 49A route which was the only connection to T. Nagar

I appeal to MTC to resume the service on this route. V.Padmanabhan, 4/15, Rajaji Street, West Mambalam

Errors in life certificate processingforce pensioners to visit PF officeSir, Due to errors in online update of life

In a number of cases, though the certificateis submitted at the banks, the same is does notget updated, forcing the pensioners to visit thePF Office.

Stray cattle problem persists in Cart Track RoadSir, Thanks for publishing the report about the stray cattle problem

in Cart Track Road.In spite of the report and the frequent complaints by the residents,

no action has been taken by the Corporation. As a woman living in the area, it is really a harrowing experience,

particularly after dusk, to walk on the pavement threatened by cows.Added to this is the compost pit built on the pavement which producesan awful stink. Living in this area has become a nightmare.

The cattle roam freely and often squat in groups in the middle of theroad or on the pavement. They are a danger to both motorists andpedestrians, especially elderly persons, women and children.

Will the authorities concerned take immediate action? S. C. VidyaBalan, Cart Track Road, T. Nagar. Ph: 98402 93321

Hawkers block Rameswaram Roadpavements

Sir, Rameswaram Road, which connectsDuraisamy subway and Ranganathan Street, has become practically unusable by pedestri-ans due to encroachment by hawkers.

Added to this, autorickshaws are parked onone side of the road leaving very little space forroad users.

It is a nightmarish experience to walk ordrive through this street.

Call taxi drivers hesitate and often refuse tocome through this road to pick up fares.

The authorities concerned are apathetic to-wards the difficulties of the public and frequentcomplaints have fallen on deaf ears. P.Rajaraman, Flat 85, H Block, KamakotiApartments, 20, Rameswaram Street, T.Nagar

Old flat complexes at disadvantageSir, In the ‘Dial for Water 2.0 Scheme’, booking 6000-liter tankers is

not allowed for consumers living in multistoried apartment complexes. This is not correct as a number of old multistoried complexes built

many years back have been provided only with 6000 or lesser capacitysumps due to the smaller sizes of plots/dwellings as per the then FSIrules.

Further, the capacity then was enough as water was supplied daily.Hence, flat owners living in old complexes suffer as they lose money

every time they order 9000 liter tankers as they can accommodateonly 6000 liters.

Hence, I request Metrowater to allow multistoried complexes to book6000-liter tankers. P. K. Subramanian, Aishwarya Apartments,Gandhi Street, T. Nagar, Ph: 98402 93321
