SHC POWERTRAIN

costs through a lower fuel requirement for transporting

other pro Future™ products include the variable speed rubber

tyred gantry (rtG ) crane, automatic stacking crane,

battery driven forklift truck and ship-to-shore crane with

a regenerative energy source.

TECHNICAL CONFIGURATION

A variable-speed diesel generator (vSG) with

temperature controlled fan technology set optimizes

fuel consumption and reduces noise emissions. it

provides environmental and operational benefits on

many levels. the electrically controlled viscous fan is

used only when cooling is needed, helping to optimize

fuel consumption. this is especially useful in moderate

climate conditions.

our energy storage system stores energy when the

machine is braking or the container is being lowered.

the regenerated energy is then used to reduce diesel

engine power usage when hoisting or accelerating.

Kalmar plC control optimizes the hybrid system.

the Kalmar hybrid system includes an in-cab energy

monitor display from which the user can easily follow

the energy flow and so adjust driving habits to save

even more fuel.

Smartport integrates process automation solutions (navis)

terminal concept.

Spreadersour r&D department is continuously working to improve all

aspects of Shuttle Carriers, including spreaders.

Kalmar heavy duty spreaders are based on 30 years r&D. they incorporate features

such as t-beams with longitudinal locking and hard wiring for all the spreader’s

electric functions. Spreader safety functions are an integrated part of the Shuttle

Carrier’s plC-controlled safety system and ensure safe and fast container handling.

SINGLE LIFT SPREADER

our basic spreader is a single-lift 20’ – 40’ spreader with fully floating twist locks.

TWIN LIFT SPREADER

our twin lift spreader (20’, 40’, 2 x 20’) was developed in the mid ‘90s and is now

installed on 50 percent of the units. the twin lift spreader is based on our robust 20’–

40’ spreader and provides enhanced container handling capacity with minimal service

requirements.

EXTENDABLE TWIN LIFT SPREADER

the latest addition to our spreader family is the extendable twin lift spreader 20’ –

40’ – 45’, 2 x 20’. it enables 5’ of movement in twin handling, for example for easy

checking of the door seals directly beneath StS crane.

Shuttle Carriers reduce the amount of transport equipment necessary in rubber tyred gantry (rtG) crane operations and maximise the productivity of ship-to-shore cranes by eliminating waiting times.

Kalmar Shuttle Carriers are ideal for feeding automatic stacking cranes because they are both able to work independently of each other, increasing operating efficiency. the Shuttle Carrier can also be fully-automated.

operating with a Shuttle Carrier enables the mobile harbour crane to place the container on the ground, thus eliminating the slow process of positioning containers on trailers.
