KAMPS is an organisation formed by residents of Kaggadasapura, Bangalore to make Kaggadasapura a better place to live in. The primary focus of the group is to revive the Kaggadasapura Lake.

Lake Details

Area : 50 acres

Encroached : 3 acres

Drainage:

Two inlets : one from north and one from west

One outlet : on the north east part connecting to Doddenakundi lake/

State :

High level of weeding and siltation

Sewage dumping from north inlet

Drainage highly used for sewage rather storm water drainage

Background

The lake was under Forest department till 2007

Transferred to LDA in 2007

LDA conferred executionery works to BDA

BDA prepared Detailed Project Report

BDA fenced a part of the lake

Detailed Project Report waiting for LDA nod

Kaggadasapura Kere Abhivrudhi Mattu Parisara Samrakshane Samiti( KAMPS)

Formed in June 2012

Aims to form a organisation/trust with residents of Kaggadasapura to initially revive and develop Kaggadasapura Lake into an open green space

The goal is to make Kaggadasapura a better place to live in

KAMPS is 92 members strong now

Action plan

Data collection and analysis

Bring more people from Kaggadasapura in the movement by campaigning and awareness programmes.

Coax and push authorities to speed up the development programme as planned by Government

Work in collaboration with BBMP, BDA,LDA to develop the lake and adjoining area in benefit of people of Kaggadasapura

Work with related NGOs like United Ways to provide technical and strategic inputs on our development work.

Take up the custody of the Lake and make it a big open public space for all Kaggadasapura residents

KAMP activities

A group formed with 92 members

Using both online and offline route to bring in more residents in the movement

Attended “Save Our Lake” programme on 5th August 2012

Visited Puttenahalli lake off Bannerghatta Road to study and discuss how people in neighbourhood revived the lake and turned into an oasis

Filed RTI with BDA to gather insight of the development programme taken up by Government.
