For Flinders Chase National Park, Kelly Hill Caves and Seal Bay, we will work through a co-design process to develop a vision, key themes, guiding principles and design brief to guide built form and infrastructure.
For other projects, depending on scale and level of change, the design process and inputs will be sought in different ways, such as a targeted focus group session, online engagement, one-on-one inputs, surveys and more.
Endorse the outcomes and move to implementation.

New park management planIn the current circumstances of fire recovery, and with a view to the future, many of the management plans for parks and wilderness areas on the western end of Kangaroo Island are limited in their ability to support community aspirations, wildlife and ecological recovery, the reimagining of tourism experiences and future fire management needs. The reimagine engagement process will be one of the many inputs to a new park management plan, establishing a long-term vision and a strong foundation for the outcomes needed to support the recovery of Kangaroo Island’s parks, communities and businesses.

ReimagineAcross the iconic sites of Flinders Chase, Kelly Hill and Seal Bay, we have an opportunity, borne from adversity, to reimagine our infrastructure and facilities balanced with environmental recovery and protection.
This once in a lifetime planning opportunity requires a staged approach and significant community inputs.
For the first time, we can develop a future-focussed vision around what a world-class, authentic and cohesive Kangaroo Island parks visitor experience looks like across all the connected parks and wilderness areas at the Western end of Kangaroo and at Seal Bay.
RenewIn some places, particularly in our eastern-end parks, we’re looking to enhance what we’re offering to support local communities and our vital tourism industry.
RebuildIn bushfire impacted areas there’s already a lot of activity taking place, from repairing roads to replacing fencing, signage and other infrastructure.
Some of our projects involve with little change from what was there before. Other projects involve improvements to facilities to better meet the expectations and needs of our visitors as well as compliance with current building codes.
