Land and Climate
Kansas is the fifteenth largest state in the United States. It is
very hot in the summer.
Kansas is cold in the winter though. Kansas is mainly
flatlands except for Western Kansas.
Resources and Industry
Kansas is the top producer of wheat in the U.S. . Farms cover 90% of Kansas but beef cattle make 60% of farm earnings.
Historical Events and Landmarks
Kansas became a state in 1861 many American Indian
tribes lived in Kansas.
United States leaders thought no one would want to move
to Kansas.
Amazing Places
Santa Fe Trail Markers are still standing. The Kansas Museum of History is in Topeka. There are
very colorful exhibits there.
Robert Merrell Gage made a sculpture called Mother and Child.
It was dedicated to pioneer women.
Cities In Kansas
Topeka is the capitol of Kansas. Smith Center is close to the
exact center if the United states.
The largest cities in Kansas are Wichita, Kansas City and
Overland Park.
WOW Facts
Abraham Lincoln said if he went anywhere west he’d go
to Kansas.
The largest ball of twine is in Kansas and the nickname is
the Sunflower State.
Summary
In Kansas there are lots of Sunflowers their state song is Home on the Range and the state bird is Western Meadowlark! If you like those things you should go to Kansas!
