May have descended from Austronesian-speaking immigrants during Iron Age.

History: 16th CENTURY:
Acted as traders in China.
Maritime Trading and even Piracy became the main source of profit.
Many kapampangans worked as mercenaries for various states and kingdoms of Southeast Asia.
17th CENTURY:The kapampangan
traders from Luzon who brought Chinese goods all across Southeast Asia were thought of as Chinese.
The Sultinate of Sulu still commissioned Kapampangans to act as trade ambassadors to China.
CULTURE: Curaldal- “street
dancing” that accompanies the feast of Santa Lucia
Pistang Danum- food is served on floating banana rafts on the waters of the Pampanga River
Aguman Sanduk- men cross-dressed as women to welcome the new year in Minalin/Battala Festival
Minalin- to reenact the battle between the native Muslim Moor and the new colonist native Capampañgan Christians
