Kapkits is my most successful business. I work with one other designer and we focus our efforts towards developing online marketing strategies that will enhance the overall look and performance of small business' online presences in our local area (Vancouver, WA).
CLICK AnalysisKapkits has a slight local advantage because of how we design our services with progressive CMS platforms which allow the customer to learn how to operate and manage their site without being stuck in a management contract with overpriced designers.
As the founder, I find myself often engulfed in online communities and always searching for the next big push in web and application development. I am a big advocate for efficiency and pride myself with finding ways to be efficient with the way I ( and my customers) operate online.
Many small business owners have a hard time keeping up with new advancements with online development. The demand shows up when a small business gets desperate to stay alive in this technological revolution. We are able to show them the value in taking advantage and control of their online presence, and offer assistance at a much lower rate that most freelance designers.
We mostly target older businesses that have no online presence (website/social media), or have outdated websites. Most of the time this is the result of website neglect due to lack of time, education, or funding.
I have been designing and managing websites for over 5 years. I started operating under KapKits in 2013, and continues to help business communities find success through online marketing. When I was in high school, I taught myself HTML and CSS and started designing sample sites in my spare time. After fighting entry level jobs that lacked interest, I decided to start designing sites for income.
SWOT Analysis
Strengths1. Knowledge in the industry.2. Commitment to understanding
the efficiencies of the industry.3. Young and focused on new
technology integration.4. Local and have an
understanding of the small business scene in our area.
Weaknesses1. Young with a lack of
experience.2. Lack of customer history or
project success compared to competitors.
3. Lack of recourses due to being a minimal start-up.
4. Lack of time due to other pursuits (School, other work, family).
Opportunities1. Squarespace and other CMS platforms
creating a simple to use platform.2. Mobile technology advancing, making it
more of a demand that businesses have mobile compatible sites.
3. E-commerce gaining popularity.4. Business owners getting peer and
family pressure to update or acquire a website.
Threats1. CMS platforms becoming so simple to
use that business owners can use it themselves.
2. Other designers taking advantage of the same target market with similar pricing.
3. Cost of living rising, which makes it harder to keep momentum with a start-up with minimal resources.
4. Larger web design companies accepting smaller jobs, resulting in monopolization of the industry.
Competitor Analysis
Premium Websites | JH Design |
Gravitate
Premium Websites
Kapkits’ advantage over PW is that we are more modern and involved in the most recent advancements in the designing world. PW might have an upper hand with reputation, but Kapkits will be able to offer more valuable resources that will help a small business succeed online.
Jeff Hollett Web Design & SEO
Jeff Hollett has a surprising amount of business. He got into the business a long time before Kapkits, but has a extremely organic approach to his branding. This can come across as unprofessional and Kapkits has the upper hand with online branding.
Gravitate
Gravitate is in position to monopolize the web design business in Vancouver Washington. Kapkits’ only real chance is by staying relevant to the changes in the industry and to operate as a large brand. By applying creative marketing strategies for our own services, we will be able to be seen on the same playing field as Gravitate. Gravitate has a large team that is able to contribute to each moving piece of their success. Their blog is something that they are able to offer education to customers at no cost to increase the value of their services. This is something we (Kapkits) must apply in order to compete with the king of the land.
Gravitate is a massive agency that has acquired a large
portion of the online business in our local area. They do large-scale projects and small mom
and pop websites.
