WORK AND TRAVEL SUMMER 2009

A letter from a fellow student… “ I want to take this opportunity to share my good experiences that I have had since I have been in the state of Wisconsin. I never knew people were so friendly, courteous and helpful. I can’t deny the hospitality that I got as a participant in the J-1 program through my sponsor Kaplan Aspect. I would recommend to all J-1 participants, especially first-timers, to gain a great experience through Kaplan Aspect. I work as a lifeguard at Wilderness Hotel and Resort, one of the biggest water parks known in the US. I graduated at the top of my class when I was being certified to lifeguard, and I am proud of myself. I am

proud to represent my country and most of all proud to represent my sponsor. I have pictures that say a million words and memories that will live on. Thanks to Kaplan.” - Dalton Atkinson, Jamaica

Wilderness Resort, located in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin is home to one of the largest water parks in the United States. Students working at Wilderness Resort this summer are working in lifeguarding, food services and housekeeping departments.

From the NYC Office… It was a pleasure to meet many of you this summer

at orientation in New York. I have had a wonderful time working in the East Coast Work and Travel

office with Shari Lamont. I hope that I was a useful source of information during your orientation

session. I hope that each of you enjoy the rest of your summer working in the U.S!

Send us your pictures!

On his day off, Pavlo Nazar from Ukraine, visited several historical sites in Washington D.C. with Shari Lamont, the East Coast Director for Work and Travel. Shari and Pavlo went to the Library of Congress, the Capital Building, Union Station and Capital Hill. Pavlo is working at Six Flags America in the Largo, MD area.

In 1981, the Freedom Bell was donated to the United States in celebration of the nation's Bicentennial. It was cast specifically for the 1975-76 American Freedom Train by White chapel Bell Foundry, the same foundry that cast the original Liberty Bell. The American Freedom Train carried the bell to all 48 contiguous states during the nation's Bicentennial celebration. It is nearly twice as large as the real Liberty Bell. The replica is located at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and First Street in front of Washington DC's Union Station.
