Tennis is a great activity that can keep youin shape whether you are age 5 or 95. Itkeeps our cardiovascular and muscularsystem in top shape even as we age.

It is an amazing workout for the entire body. One uses the lower body for running, stopping and starting, jumping, crouchingand the action of hitting the tennis ball, involves the trunk in particular shouldersand upper back.

Tennis increases our oxygen intake whileplaying, increasing our heart rate andhelping blood deliver oxygen and nutrientsto all muscles which provide quick energyspurts for explosive power and quick, reactive movements.

It also aids in the development of numerouscapillaries and capillary beds within themuscles so that our muscles can have agreater blood supply and flow. This helpsour muscles perform at a higher level andfatigue at a slower rate.

Playing tennis regularly has been shown tohelp reduce body fat. Singles tennis canburn between 400-600 calories an hour.

Playing tennis isn’t good for our musclesalone; it has a positive impact on our bonesas well. Exercising regularly can increaseour peak bone mass and can slow the rateof bone mass loss over time.

Living in a country where cricket is big, it is noteasy for one to choose another sport to play. Theyouth and citizens of all ages in order to remainfit should be involved in sports, a sport that usesboth our physical and mental abilities. One sportthat thrives in making the optimum use of bothour physical and mental capabilities is none otherthan Tennis. Following are the benefits of Tennisthat I would like to throw light on.

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

Tennis requires the cooperation of thewhole body. The feet maneuver you intothe right position, the arms and handsposition the racquet to make contact withthe ball, and the torso and legs provide thepower to send the ball flying over the net.All these factors come together every timeyou hit the ball, and each shot takesflexibility, coordination and balance.

Tennis requires the brain to be creative, andit involves planning, tactical thinking, agilityand the coordination of different parts ofthe body. So the more we play tennis, thebetter and stronger the neural connectionsrelated to those types of activities become, and the better we become at them.

Tennis also improves your anticipatory skillswhich other than Tennis can also assist usin our daily lives.

Tennis makes us more disciplined becausethe skills needed to master the game takespatience, time and dedication.

Our interaction with different players inTennis helps us in achieving a better degreeof socialization.

Tennis players are more optimistic, havegreater self-esteem and are less anxious, angry and depressed than people who playother sports.

People who participate in tennis 3 hoursper weekat moderate intensity cut theirrisk of death in half from any cause.

7.

8.

9.

10.

Hope the above benefits will arouse interest in allof us to play Tennis and build it into your dailyroutine lives. See you all in court, tennis courtthat is.

Once you realize that you are angry, or that you’re about to get angry, you can start calming yourselfmentally. The following are just a few mental scripts you canuse to keep your anger under control.

Calm down first, and think this through. This may not be as bad as it seems. This is just one incident --- it doesn’t define my life.I am capable of managing this situation. It’s alright to be upset. / I have the right to be upset in thissituation. / I am angry. What needs to be done immediately? (Damage control/solution-focused mode).Bad things/ Mistakes do happen/ Nothings says that thingswill go right all the time. There is no need to feel threatened here.I have no control over other people and their feelings. But I have control over myself.I have managed anger successfully before and I will again.

Another way to help you control your anger is to intentionallyinduce yourself to a state of calm. This can help especially inaddressing the physical symptoms of anger.

1. Deliberately controlling yourbreathing can help a person calm down. Ways to do this include:breathing through one’s nose and exhaling through one’smouth, breathing from one’s diagram, and breathingrhythmically.

Anger is an emotion that comes unbidden and we often don’thave a choice whether we would be angry or not. What we cando however, is take control of our anger when it comes.

The first step in gaining control of anger is to recognize its warningsigns. We have to be aware of symptoms that our anger is aboutto build up, so that we can catch early and make the necessaryintervention. This process involves taking ourselves control fromthe ‘moment’ and observing our own reactions from a thirdperson point of view.

Warning signs of anger exists in a range. Some are very obvious;others very subtle. They differ from person to person. Signs ofanger can be physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral.

of anger include: sadness, irritability, guilt, resentment, feeling like you need to hurt someone, needing tobe alone, needing to isolate one’s self &numbness

of anger include: clenching of fist, poundingof fist on any surface, pacing, raising one’s voice & any act ofaggression.

of anger include: rapid heart rate, difficultybreathing, headaches, stomach ache, sweating, feeling hot in theface and neck &shaking

of anger include: difficulty concentrating, obsessingon the situation, thinking vengeful thoughts & cynicism.

2. It is a way of exercising mentaldiscipline. Most meditation techniques involve increasing self-awareness, monitoring thoughts, and focusing. Meditationtechniques include prayer, the repetition of a mantra, andrelaxing movement or postures.

3. Visualization is the use of mental imageryto induce relaxation. Some visualization exercise involvespicturing a place of serenity and comfort, such as a beach ora garden. Other visualization exercises involve imagining therelease of anger in a metaphorical form. An example of thislatter kind of visualization is imagining one’s anger as a ball tobe released to space.

4. Some people find listening to music as very relaxing. The kind of music that’s calming differs from person to person;traditional relaxation music includes classical pieces, acousticsounds, and even ambient noises.

5. There are people who find working withtheir hands as a good way to relax. This is especially true forpeople who feel their tensions in their hands. Drawing pictures, paper construction and sculpting are just some of the ways tode-stress when faced with an anger trigger. Arts and crafts arehelpful because it keeps a person from obsessing on the angerwhile he or she is still in the recovery phase of the anger cycle.

Another way of controlling your anger is by getting the angerenergy out--- blowing off steam. These techniques are especiallyhelpful when you are in the crisis phase of the anger cycle.

Hot buttons differ from person to person. Our personal historiesinfluence what would make us angry. Some triggers are causedby conditioning, model ing, and unresolved issues.A key to seeing if a hot button is the real cause of the anger, orjust a trigger, is to see if your anger reaction is proportionate towhat the situation calls for. If you’re angrier than you should be,perhaps there is an underlying emotional issue that needs to besurfaced.

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His fathergave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost histemper, he must hammer a nail into the fence. The first day theboy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeksas he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammereddaily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier tohold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all.He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boynow pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold histemper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able totell his father that all the nails were gone.

The tinkling bangles, the bright dupattas,

The bumpy road, the deep khaddas,

The smell from food street,

of chicken and meat,

of chargas and biryani,

of tikkas and nihari.

The beautiful sounds of children playingon a merry go round.

This is my Pakistan.

But what is this I hear,

a blood curdling scream ?

I think I am watching a dream,

Sons are dying, mothers are crying.

There is a little hope, yet we are trying.

Is this my Pakistan ?

What has happened while I was away,

Two more blast a thousand more die.

How long will this stay,

How many more will cry ?

This is not Quaid’s Pakistan,

This is not my Pakistan.

The most common Quran has about 605 pages. Whatmakes the number of pages differ is the font size atmost times. In order to complete reciting the Quranfrom the first Surah to the last we divide the numberof pages by the number of days and since the blessedmonth of ramazan is round the corner my examplebest fits during ramazan. Three times.. so that meanscompleting the Quran every 10 days (605/10 = 60.5)so that's 60 pages a day. But don’t worry it can bemade easier by breaking it down even more to makeit even more easier, we can divide this one day intofive parts which is obviously the daily Salahs. We maynow read 12 pages at time and if we divide it intobefore the Salah and after, that's 6 faces a time. WhyI said faces is because some people consider page tobe the whole paper front and back... O yea and thepart after the decimal may be omitted because 60pages can also be referred to as 3 Juz' (Section) or 6hizbs. For those who want to do their own calculationshere is something you can use:-

FYISections:- The Quran is divided into 114 Chapters, eachof different length. The Quran is also divided into 30 ajzaa'(plural arabicword for sections) which are almost equal in length. Each juz' is further divided into 2 ahzaab (plural arabicword for partition), giving us a total of 60 hizbs or 30juz''s.

Here is my break down:-

To complete the Quran:-

1 Time4 pages after every Salahor2 pages before every salah and 2 pages after every salah

2 Times8 pages after every salahor4 pages before every salah and 4 pages after every salah

3 times12 pages after every salah

Second-hand smoke is sometimes referred to asenvironmental tobacco smoke. It is a combination of thesmoke exhaled by a smoker and the smoke that comesfrom the end of a burning cigarette or cigar. Whensomeone breathes in this smoke, it is often referred toas .

The effects of passive smoking

Most people are aware that second-hand smoke is nothealthy for them. However, how damaging is it? Scientificevidence tells us:

Non-smokers exposed to second-hand tobacco smokeincrease their risk of lung cancer.

Non-smokers who live with the second-hand smokeof a smoker increase their risk of lung cancer by 20-30%.

Passive smoking can cause premature death innon-smokers.

There is no known safe level of exposure to second-hand smoke.

Second-hand tobacco smoke contains more than 4,000chemicals and 69 are known to cause cancer.

Passive smoking substantially increases a person's riskof getting coronary heart disease.

Why is passive smoking so dangerous?

You may ask how the risks of passive smoking seem soexcessive given that a non-smoker doesn't breathe inanywhere near as much tobacco smoke as a smoker.

Although the reasons are not well understood, there aresome interesting clues. These clues come from studyingthe smoke when a cigarette is burnt. What some evidenceshows is that:

Smoke that burns off the end of a cigarette (called sidestream smoke)

a smoker would inhale.

as itgoes from being fresh to aged.

What we know is that, for a non-smoker (as well as for asmoker!), breathing in second-hand tobacco smoke stillcarries significant health risks. There is no known safelevel of exposure to passive smoking.
