HCA investment in Derby

• 2011-16 Affordable Housing Programme helped to build 410 homes in Derby City with an investment of £7.6m

• Land Programmes have delivered 338 starts on site for open market homes with 186 completions to date, levering in £3.8m of HCA investment, and utilising HCA land

• Over 3,700 sqm employment floorspace created


Going forward – HCA’s land role• Key land role in bringing forward residential

development on HCA land • Dispose of public sector land for

government departments• Add value to surplus sites with development

potential • Speeding up sale to help increase housing supply


Shared ownership

• Following Spending Review current Affordable Homes Programme open principally for shared ownership

Starter Homes• Enabling house building on brownfield sites

• Clearance, remediation, demolition and site investigations• Support through Housing & Planning Bill reforms• First wave of Starter Homes

• £36m pilot fund to be used by March• £28m of this being used to acquire

and de-risk brownfield sites • Remaining £8m for local authorities• Includes 6 Midlands LAs


Continued commitment to Derby

• Work with Derby partners to deliver priority sites and support the Housing Zone

• Strategic alignment of current and future HCA programmes

• Access to HCA consultancy panels and Developer Partner Panel

• Act as ‘critical friend’ in continuing devolution discussions
