U .H .S .O.B . against M.H .S .O .B . Glenn, who isthis year's Reserves team Vice-Captain, ishaving a great season . His enthusiasm, both onand off the ground, is a great example toyounger Players. Well done, Cass, look forwardto 100 games .

The Committee and players at M.H .S .O .Bcongratulate three of their club mates who allplayed their 50th game against Elsternwick .George Kovits, Keith Hallet and Bob Evans areall vital senior footballers who we hope willcontinue their fine efforts for many moreseasons yet. Well done fettast

All at St. Kilda C .B.C . would like to con-gratulate Brendan Jones on playing his 50thgame three weeks ago. "Jonesy" started withthe club in 1975 while still at school andquickly worked his way into the Firsts . He hasPlayed mostly on the half-back flank and it is .In this position that hq has shown some greatform over the past few seasons . Best of luckfor the future and we all hope you can main-tain your magnificent form of the moment.

Old Brighton's Jim Kelleway played his 50thgame last round and everyone associated withthe club congratulates 'Kelloggs' on this mile-stone . Jim, a utility Player of solid build anddubious pace, has often been called upon tofill weak spots in the Reserves side which heinvariably does with admirable application, patience and much under-rated ability . How-ever, if anything, he specialises in organisingend of season trips and dispensing refresh-ments at social functions, but in whatevercapacity, he will be sorely missed when heessays o/s within the next few weeks . So con-gratulations James, and the best of goodfortunes in your approachin6 travels .

Everybody at Commonwealth Bank congratu-lates "Patto" Paternoster who plays his 50thgame for the club this week . Since being anew "recruit" in 1975 - at the age of 31 -"Patto" has played in both our Firsts andSeconds sides . If anybody was instrumental inthe Seconds making their first Finals appear-ance for many years it was "Patto" . We knowthat, with his experience, "Patio" will onceagain guide the younger players throughanother season to the finals and hopefully toa flag . We know we will see many more gamesfrom Patto in the future - another counts of

GEELONG PROUD OF THEIR CLUBMANSHtP

The Geelong commitee wishes to note theclubmanship shown by some younger seniorplayers in assisting the juniors with boundaryumpire duties after they have p ayed with theReserves.

John Frewin, Gary Pettigrove and a numberof others have put club needs before theirown desires. Their efforts are greatly r=ci-ated by the U .19 coach and the commit :~.

Belated congratulations from all CaulfieldGrammarians to Seniors' coach tan Cameronand his wife Roslyn on the recent birth ofGeorgina, a sister for their first arrival, Nicole. After about 15 years with Ormond in whichperiod he played in several of their premie, ship teams, finishing up as aplayer as captainand finally as Seniors' coach, Ian took overthat position with Caulfield Grammarians thisseason . Being well known to many of theclub's Players and members for his effective-ness as a footballer we are now having ataste of his coaching methods . The aggressive, attacking "play-on" . style of football he isendeavouring to instil into our team will, wehope, keep us well to the fore in A Section .In this he has the full backing of the adminis-tration . So Ian, good luck and best wishes fora successful season .

Congratulations to two great players playingwith Ormond today.

Peter Murphy is playing his 150th gameand Alan Naylor is playing his 100th game .

Peter has been a regular member o fOrmond's side since 1970 and has played forVictoria on numerous occasions. "Murph"played an important role in Ormond's "goidenera" (1971, 1972 and 1973) . He is playing justas well now, but unfortunately the premiershipshaven't continued to flow . "Murph" hasdeveloped into a ve ry cool and reliable full-back and plays the game the way it should beplayed . Although not as speedy as years goneby, his natural ability and determination to wincarries him through, week in week out .

Alan played his junior football with Ormond .He has worked his way through the ranks tothe Seniors . "Nails" has become a key figurein the Ormond side . He is able to ruck all dayand each week has to overcome overwhelmingodds by other sides trying to counteract hisdevastating ruck play . "Nails" has also repre-sented Victoria frequently . He was rewardedfor his efforts last year by being selected theclub's ` best and fairest" player in 1977. Heis Playing in the same vein this year, which allgoes well for the success of the club .

Both these players are important to thesuccess of the club . Apart from being Inspi-rational on the field, they are also great club-

seasons, and another 50 games are not beyond Keep the good work up "Murph" andan old champ who continues to star with age . "Nails" .

By JAN HOWARD

The last round of matches, again played in cold and blustery conditions -altliough no rain to speak of - produced its share of surprises and upsets . AfterscNcr :il weeks as second fiddle to Old Scotch, University Blues have finally managedto «rest the top spot in A Section .

In B Section, Old IVlelburnians,' by virtue of the bye are still two games clearof the field, as are St. Kilda in C Section (still undefeated) and Old Camberwe llin D Section . St. Bede's and Thornbury are heading the E and F lists, both a gameclear as are North Old Boys in Junior One . Junior Two sees De La Salle and OldH :ti teyburians sharing the lead.

University Blues moved to the topafter their huge win over Marcellin .After their defeat of Old Scotch theprc, ious week M arcellin had been ex-pe~i~ng big things from the Blues clashhut such was not to be. They trailedall day and were saved from furtherienominy only by the Blues some-whaterratic goalshooting - particularly priorto half time.

St. Bernard's looked set for anotherN6 n in their match against Old Scotch,%~ hen they led by fifteen points at halftime and by seventy-one points at thefinal break. But Scotch came back tokick eight goals five in the last quarterto the Saints one-one and ran out com-fortable winners by twenty-five points.

Whilst a six goal third term putOrmond back in the game against DeLa Salle, a disastrous one-goal ninein the final quarter put them out of itagain De La Salle could only managea single goal in this period, so it mustbe assumed that Ormond had everyopportunity to convert their five pointfinal deficit into a winning margin duringthe quarter .

University Blacks have plummeted

THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - JUNE 10, 1978

to the bottom of the list after their dismalperformance against North Old Boys .The quarter-by-quarter scores indicatethat the Blacks only played one quarterof football. It seems that North havereturned to some of the form that tookthem into the Grand Final last year. This week's "replay" at Elsternwick Parkgives North the opportunity to provewhether they are "back" or not.

After trailing by a goal at three-quarter time Caulfield came home thebetter (aided, undoubtedly, by Ivanhoe'sabysmal kicking) to grab the four pointsby the narrowest margin . After so manyweeks in number ten spot Caulfield arenow seventh - out of the four on per-centage only .

Old Paradians toppled out of theB Section four when they lost by onlythree points to Old Haileybury - aftera keenly fought final term, in which thelead changed hands several times beforethe final bell .

Collegians moved back into the fourwhen they reversed recent form to scorehandsomely over Coburg. Eight goalsin the first term and, ten in the thirdseem to have completely demoralized

Editorial cont . -Coburg, who were not able to get intothe game at any stage .

Fawkner led Parkside by nearly sixgoals at three quarter time but seemedto fade in the final period . They couldonly manage one point to Parkside's sixgoals seven behinds and this lack ofscore by Fawkner allowed Parkside totake the four points by eight points .

The previous round bye did OldTrinity no favour when they trailedMonash Blues all day. The final sirensaw Monash eight goals ahead . The winplaces them sixth - out of the fouronly on percentage .

St. Kilda are riding high in C Section- still unconquered . A ten goal firstterm saw them off to a flying start againstKew last round . Against a stronger sidehowever they will need to play fourquarters of consistent football. Fivegoals thirteen after quarter time isnot really impressive .

Old Brighton seem to have forgottenhow to win in recent weeks . Last roundthey led Old Ivanhoe by ten points goinginto the final term, but were not ableto capitalize and the siren saw Ivanhoethree points up, and four points betteroff.

A.J .A .X. consolidated their hold onsecond place with a big win over Gee-long, who trailed all day. Geelong didrally a little in the final term, but theywere too fai behind to close the gap .Perhaps the A .J.A.X. pressure slackeneda little after they led by eleven goals atthe third interval .

Old Xaverians, perhaps, produced thebiggest upset of the section when theydowned Alphington by a goal . Inaccuratekicking played some part in Alphington'sdownfall however . After a slow start tothe season Old Xav's are now equalthird, but - sixth on percentage .

Carey battled valiantly against Hamp-ton Rovers but could not withstand theirfinal quarter burst and finally succumbedby eleven points (all behinds). Carey'saccuracy was one of the day's highlights, together with Hampton's eight goalsnine in the final term.

Old Camberwell increased their leadto two games over the field by virtue oftheir twenty-seven point win over StateBank, who toppled from third to si:,thplace.

Power House moved up into secondplace when they bettered West Brunswickby six goals after leading by only threepoints at three quarter time . Only per-centage separates Power House and thefour teams below them .

M.H.S .O.B's six goal win overElsternwick has allowed them to moveinto third place . Elsternwick were offto a strong start but a single behindsecond quarter saw them lose the advant-age and they were never back in thegame thereafter .

Heatherton led U.H .S .O .B. all dayand their percentage boost enabled themto snaffle fourth spot on the ladder .

In the section's upset, Country Col-leges kicked seven goals into the windto defeat St . Kevin's by nine points. Thedefeat cost St . Kevin's their place in thefour and proved that they must putfour quarters together if they are tosecure premiership points . Colleges willbe looking forward to today's game athome to repeat the performance .

The E Section upset saw Latrobecome back strongly after half-time todefeat section leaders Bulleen-Temple-stowe by twenty points. St . Bede's led .Brunswick comfortably all day and havenow moved into the top spot .

North Brunswick returned to thewinning list with a resounding victoryover A .N.Z. Bank who are struggling inninth position .

Old Mentonians, after a slow startto the season are now fifth (on percent-age) following their good win overA.M .P. Society - still fourth .

Beverley Hills led Old Geelong allday, assisted by very accurate kicking,to consolidate the position near the top .

Comfortable wins to Therry andBulleen United - over Clayton andCommonwealth Bank respectively -enabled them to stay in touch withThornbury in F Section.

Editorial cont. -A game of fluctuating leaders saw

National Bank too strong in the finalterm for Monash Whites whilst Footscray1ed University Reds all day to recordtheir second win for the season .

,The- F results were such that theladder for this section did not changei n composition.

North Old Boys accounted for Uni-\ersity Blues to maintain their unbeatenrecord°in Junior One, whilst Old Scotchkept in touch with their fourteen goalvictory over St . Bernard's .

Hampton Rovers moved into sixthspot after their defeat of Ormond andIvanhoe are fifth after their narrow winover Monash University. The battle of"wooden-spooners" saw University Blacksrecord their first win at the expense ofGeelong.

Joint-leaders Old Haileyburianskicked the sweep in Junior Two, (narrow-

ly ahead of De La ` Salle) when theydefeated Therry by eighty-eight points .

Wins to the top five in this sectionmeant that the composition of the ladderis unchanged (pending Therry - WestBrunswick result still) .

Leaders De La Salle acquitted 'them-selves handsomely against Fawkner asdid Coburg against M.H.S .O .B ., bothleading comfortably all day.

Caulfield fought back in the lastquarter to down West Brunswick bythirteen points, whilst Kew had to with-stand a spirited last term from OldParadians, who finally were defeated byonly four points .

Note:A full report on the Interstate games

versus Tasmania and South Australiawill be included in next week's issue .

PREVIEWING TODAY'S GAM ESA SECTIO N

Four out of five was a bit of an improve-ment and most importantly I have finally brokenmy "St . Bernard's hoodoo" . `Old Scotch andUni . Blues both bounced back after theirdefeats the previous week but it was NorthOld Boys who provided the most significantresult of the round with a big win over Uni .Blacks.

Match of the Day today is out at St. .Bernard's where top team Uni. Blues are thevisitors . The Saints looked winners at three-quarter time against Scotch, but faded badlyto eventually go down by four goals. A losstoday will see them lose their tenuous hold onfourth place, so they will not be lacking inincentive . Nor will the Blues, who are deter-mined to show that they deserve their positionon top of the ladder. They had a good winover Marceiiin in the last round, but still haveto prove themselves against top opposition. Iftheir five State players can come up againthis week, they should record another win .

Nort h Old Boys have been waiting all seasonto avenge their shock 1977 Grand Final lossto De La Salle and today, at Eisternwick Park, they have their chance . North showed theywere getting back to something like theirbest form with a brilliant performance againstBlacks and the big win should restore someof the confidence so obviously lacking earlyin the season . The return of Shane Maguire tohis rightful position at centre half back hasadded stability to that line and if goalsneakDillon can continue his good form, they willprove a handful for De La : After their greatwin against Blues, De La had only Ormond'sinaccuracy to thank for their win a fortnightago and will have to play better. I think Northcan take another step up the ladder today.

Two' last round losers, Marcellin andOrmond meet at Bulleen today. After greatwins against St. Bernard's and Old Scotch,Marcellin crashed badly against Blues. Theirform was too bad to be true and I'm surethey'll perform far better today, particularly athome. Ormond are the 'Fitzroy' of the Amateurs .Four games lost by two goals or less havemeant the difference between a place amongthe leaders and a dangerous position in therelegation zone . Their form against De La wasgood and if they've got their right kickingboots on today they 11 outscore Marcellin .

Another pair of last round losers, Blacksand Ivanhoe, meet at the University . Blacksturned in their worst performance for theyear at North last round and could not play asbadly again . Mark Lockle was their only playerthat day but he will need plenty of supportif the Blacks are to get themselves off thebottom . Ivanhoe led all day last round, butwere pipped on the post . That loss cost thema place in the Four and they will be keen not

Page 6

to slip up again . Much will depend on whetherBlacks ruckman Peter Birch has recovered fromthe ankle injury which prevented him donningthe Big V last Sunday. Blacks to win a closeone .

Old Scotch are at home to Caulfield in thefinal game of the day and on paper shouldwin . However, Caulfield are very confident ofdoing well against their old rivals. VeteransGreg Tootell and John Butcher are playing welland Rob Came ron showed'some of his teenage=form in the Ivanhoe game . Despite their con-fidence, I can't see them beating Scotch whowill be looking for a big win to ready them-selves for the big one against Blues next week .

This week's tips : Unl . Blues, No rth OldBoys, Ormond, Uni. Blacks and 'Old . ScotchPETER BRUKNER .

B SECTIO N

Today's big one will be the clash betweenOld Paradians and Parkside, at Parade . Thisshould be a beauty.

The hbme side went down narrowly in thelast round, which cost them second place .They will be all fired up to regain that position .The Parkside team will be just as determinedto hold on to number 2 spot and consolidatetheir place in the four with a good win .Paradians will be hard to beat at home, but thestubborn Parkside combination, which will beat full strength, should have enough up theirsleeve to win out .

Old Melburnians, after a two week rest, playhost to Old Trinity . Unless the long' lay-offhas made the leaders rusty I can't see Trinitycausing them too much worry, so I'll go forOld Melburnians.

Coburg at home to Old Haileybu ry could beinteresting. Coburg will be very desperate tostart winning all their home games at least tobe in it . Old Haileybury have the taste of finalsin their system . and will not allow this one toslip away easily . I'll pick Old Haileybury towin a hard game .

Collegians meet Monash Blues, at the HarryTrott. This will be another hard one withCollegians keen to get back among the winnersand Monash determined to get into the four .Monash are a much better side at home thanaway, while Collegians play their own groundwell . I'll tip Collegians to run out winners .

Fawkner have the bye which will give thema chance to put some extra miles in thoselegs and condition themselves to play out thefull game. This is a must in "B" Grade andI am convinced this is all that is missing fromtheir game .

SELECTIONS : Parkside, Old Melburnians,OI& .Haileybury, Collegians - BRIAN LAUDER .

pREVIEWS (cont)C SECTION

I have a reputation with some people at

AA AX for not liking their club; I also lackthe admiration of one of their "stalwarts" fornever selecting their club to win ; accusingtheir club of being a one (or now, perhaps, two) "man" team and, furthermore, to mypersonal "disadvantage", I live at Geelong .

As our Editor realizes, it is difficult for meo keep deadlines for our publication and ifany aspiring writer wants my job it is up fo r

grabs" . Perhaps John Brustman would make3 worthy replacement .

it does, however, amaze me that my com-ments and selections, intended lightheartedly, are taken, by some, so seriously .

Back to the real stuff - and I am notallowed to put my "tongue-in-cheek" - . butselect A .J .A .X . to win again, this time atHampton Rovers' expense . AJAX IS THE BESTTEAM I HAVE SEEN THIS YEAR and while theircoach, Syd Myers, has reservations when play-ing away from the "Park", the talents of theirsmall players, such as the brilliant Ri tt ermansand number 69 - Hen ry Bluzer, will hold, forthem, second place .

Geelong strikes the "match-to-be-won"the traditional duel with "Refreshment Record-breakers" Old Xaverians.

Geelong has not hit its straps and isstruggling but can still make the four. Butshould it lose today, I see its chances ofplaying in the finals as remote .

Geelong improved its direction two weeksago and showed plenty of fight against fleet-footed A .J .A .X . I select it to win at home in aclose one and further predict the day to be acrowd-pleaser from start to finish .

Old Carey have improved as I tipped, butwill not bother undefeated St. Kilda - but becareful St . Kilda, it is hard to finish champions- just ask Norh Old Boys !

Old Brighton has slipped in recent weeks, but will consolidate its hold on third place byaccounting for Kew.

Old Ivanhoe and Alphington provides aposer . I tend to lean towards Ivanhoe, onlybecause of the home ground advantage .

If my predictions are anywhere near "spot-on", tonight will see eight teams all with achance of playing in the "C" Section finals .This is tremendous for both the sport and thecompetition .

Selections : A.J .A.X ., Geelong, St . KildaC .B .C.O.C ., Old Brighton Grammarians and OldIvanhoe Grammarians - JIM FIDGE .

D SECTION `

Round 7 proved one of surprising resultswhich serve to even the competition . Any sidecan still feature in the finals ., Maybe today'will help piece the puzzle together.

Last round losers State Bank and St .Kevin's meet at the Bankers' Oval 4 . StateBank really have proven lions at home andtheir defeat on May 26 was against leadersOld Camberwell . St. Kevin's, on the otherhand, faltered, on their home stage in front of

their fellow Old Collegians. At Albert Park, Iselect the State Bankers to win and regaintheir place in the Four.

Disappointing University High School OldBoys journey east to meet leaders Old Camber-well Grammarians. On form, , despite RobertReid's hopes of a revival, a big win appearslikely to confirm the current lead of the OldCamberwell side .

Near neighbours Coun ry Colleges and WestBrunswick meet for the first time since the1969 D Section final . The Magpies haveslumped during the May Days . Today they willfind the Western Oval bigger and subject tomore wind swirls than their home ground, thenearby Ransford Oval . The Country Boyscertainly came to town with a bang to spoilthe St . Kevin's reunion celebrations. MauriceBeaumont tells me the College Boys arebuilding to peak form and strength . Formappears to vindicate Maurice's judgement andwith a peculiar pleasure I select CountryColleges to score their first ever home andaway victory against West Brunswick ( I canjump on the bandwagon as quickly as thatother, more widely read tipster) .

Two Southern sides meet at Elsernwickwhen Heathe rton are their visitors . Heathertonon paper have a slightly better record . Withno great confidence I select Heatherton, purelyon the score of their 1978 record .

Melbourne High School Old Boys are hostto Power House. These two sides have not metsince 1974 (B Section) . Many titanic tussleshave been played between the sides over ageneration . Power House, now restored tosecond place, will be anxious to maintain thisposition . The Melbourne Old Boys will beanxious to maintain their present status andremain in the four . Form in 1978 favours PowerHouse so I select them to win.

SELECTIONS : State Bank, Old CamberwellGrammarians, Count ry Colleges, Heathe rt on,Power House - NORM NUGENT.

E SECTIONI read other tipsters are also complaining

about the, difficulty of getting home a fewwinners . I got three numbers out of forty inTattslotto last week, yet could only pick onewinner out of five games .

La Trobe Blacks are not consistent enoughto give a clear Indication of their form . Acouple of poor showings away from their homeground - and they will go down to BeverleyHills today.

Old Geelong will have to make a moredetermined effort if it wants to play in thefinals this year . They will have an opportunityto get back on the winning list this week outat Brunswick .

The Bulleen-Templestowe Boys like towallow in the sticky conditions and for thatreason, unless we get ve ry dry weather, theywill bog the A .M .P. high flyers and come outwith another victory .

No rth Brunswick took exception to mebacking A .N .Z . Bank and really put it on thescoreboard to prove me wrong . I don't thinkyou can maintain the same margin this week, but on your home ground you should just gethome against St . Bede's.

and you prove me wrong again if you get'close to Old Mentonians .

SELECTIONS : Beverley Hills, Old Geelong,Bulteen-Templesowe, North Brunswick, Old Men-tonlans - NUGGET STEPHENS .

F SECTION

The "Fillies" upset Uni. Reds last round(and me) and should be able to carry on thegood work with another successful matchagainst Clayton . The fact that the match will beplayed on the Maribyrnong mud won't helpthe visitors.

Therry C .C.O .B. are at home to the Com-monwealth Bank and should have a decentstruggle to -clinch the points . I think thatTherry have the strength necessary to beat theBankers and hold on to second place .

A national newspaper stated on Saturday,27th May, that Monash was dead . For all, theeffect that the Whites are having on the year'sfun and games the statement might well betrue, and if Whites can beat Thornbury, evenat home, I'll never again believe anything Iread in a paper.

National Bank at home to Bulleen Unitedshould be another close-fought game . Bulleenhave a slightly better record so far this yearand should be able to overcome the wide openspaces of Oval 14 .

SELECTIONS : Footscray I .T ., TherryC.C .O .B ., Thornbury, Bulleen United, UniversityReds the bye - SYD WHITFIELD.

JUNIOR I SECTIO N

There was a marked improvement by Ivan-hoe and Hampton Rovers in Round 7 whichshows that the tussle for the final four is goingto become more ineresting as the season pro-ceeds.

The thrilling one ,point win by Ivanhoe overMonash University and Hampton Rovers

°=drubbing of Ormond were the top spots of theround .

North O .B . showed why they are on the topof the ladder with a convincing win over Uni-versity Blues . '

University Blacks recorded their first win inthe battle of the wooden spooners whilst OldScotch proved far superior to St . Bernard's .

This round produces some interestinggames, not the least of which will be the clashbetween University Blues and the confidentHampton Rovers .

I'11 tip the Rovers to continue their improve-ment and topple the Blues.

Despite Ormond's disappointing performanceagainst Hampton, I believe their form is betterthan that was shown . The home ground ad-vantage should be sufficient to carry, the dayagainst University Blacks .

Geelong, yet to open their account, will bestruggling to defeat the cock-a-hoop Ivanhoe .

Ivanhoe have their eyes on a berth in th e

Page 8

"Four" and should have a percentage-buildingwin .

St . Bernard's O.C ., with several of theirplayers in higher ranks, have been most dis-appointing his year . North O .B. should easilyaccount for the Saints in what is normally afierce game .

Old Scotch and Monash University shouldprovide a hard encounter with the Universityside anxious to redeem their surprise defeat .Old Scotch however may be too strong up for-ward and I hink they will win .

My selections are Hampton Rovers, OrmondIvanhoe, North O .B. and Old Scotch . .MICHAEL ARNOLD .

JUNIOR 2 SECTIO N

Kew scraped in by 4, points for my first winon them and their sixth win . All other gameswere decided by good margins, however, .Caulfield nearly kicked themselves out of fourpremiership points. The section has nowformed intse!f into 2 divisions, basically thetop 5 and the bottom 5 . Your scribe was theonly tipster to pick the card last week andhopefully that form will be repeated today . .

M .H .S .O .B. travel to Kew and no doubt theircoach will have given them a good workoutover the past 2 weeks after their dismal per-formance against Coburg . However, they maybe a little homesick as this will be theirsecond consecutive game away from home andI cannot see them overcoming the overallstrength of Kew.

Caulfield Grammarians are entertaining OldHaileyburians at Albert Park and must win ifthey are to remain, in contact with the topfour . They will, no doubt, win the points forthe after-match entertainment but I cannot seethem getting within five goals of the "Keys-borough Kids" . But beware!! Rumour has itthat .the "K .K.s" may be "K.O'd" soon, asthey are becoming over-confident .

Coburg are undertaking a short journey toWest Brunswick and the home side will needmore than an undertaker to help them put awaythe speedy Coburg side . The visitors will pullup very tired because of the extra ground theyhave to cover at Royal Park but should sti!lwin .

Fawkner are at home to Old Paradians andafter having played the top two sides in thelast 2 weeks will be looking forward to aneasier game today . This game is a real toss-upand could be my undoing this week, howeverI . will put my money on the home side .

Therry C.C .O .B . play host to the De LaSalle O .C. machine and can expect a lessonin football . At present the Therry players areperforming better than their administration andwe hope to see the result of their gameagainst West Brunswick printed today* (Dav e

^~Kennedy, please help Jan Howard, Alf Keamand myself) . "De La" obviously have a starforward in Greene, who was equal leadinggoal kicker for the whole Association beforethe last round . De La to win .

SELECTIONS : De La Salle, Fawkner, Kew,Old Haileyburlans, Coburg - PETER NATHAN .

* A vain hope unfortunately - Ed .

Well done, "H" .

Alan "Spike" Mannix of A.M .P . has neverlacked in "G and D" but couldn't kick overthe proverbial "jam tin" a few years back. Hehas now eliminated this flaw and become avaluable player and clubman . We at A .M .P .contratulate him on his 50th game last round .
