INTRODUCTION!! :D Do you get
confused when solving inequalities? Is it hard for you to understand, gives you stress, makes you want to throw your phone at the wall?! Well, no problem. We’ve found an easy solution for you!
Inequalities are solved just like equations, but instead of using equal signs, you use these signs:
<:Less than >:Greater than ≤:Less than or equal
to ≥:Greater than or
equal to

HISTORY ^.^In inequalities
The historical development of equations and inequalities is examined, in order to underline their very different roles in various socio-cultural contexts.
![Page 5: Kassie, Natasha, Sheyann, Mario. What do we want you to learn today about inequalities?(: How to use inequalities Why it helps you in math How](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022072010/56649dca5503460f94ac08fa/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
WHY IMPORTANTInequalities in mathematics are important to remember because you need to know the difference between an inequality and an equation because they are very similar. You can’t get them confused, because even though you solve them the very same way, your answer could still be wrong if you do not put the right sign! (:
![Page 6: Kassie, Natasha, Sheyann, Mario. What do we want you to learn today about inequalities?(: How to use inequalities Why it helps you in math How](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022072010/56649dca5503460f94ac08fa/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
WHAT CAREERS USE INEQUALITIES?Well, for starters, a math teacher of course! They need to teach their students how to use inequalities and the difference between inequalities and equations, and they need to make sure every student understands what they are learning.
![Page 7: Kassie, Natasha, Sheyann, Mario. What do we want you to learn today about inequalities?(: How to use inequalities Why it helps you in math How](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022072010/56649dca5503460f94ac08fa/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
HOW TO USE INEQUALITIES I bet you are wondering, how do you use
inequalities? No problem, I got the answer! First, you have a problem (of course), you
solve it just like an equation, but use a less than or greater than sign (>,<).
If you are multiplying/dividing by a negative, the sign changes directions.
When you are graphing the inequality, you go by the sign (>,<, ≤,≥), and if it is less than or greater than, you go in that direction, and the circle is open. If it is less than or equal to, as well as greater than or equal to, you go the right direction, but the circle is filled in.

EXAMPLES!!! (;These examples shall help you if you still don’t quite get our explanations about inequalities.
Ex. 1.) w+5<8 You subtract 5 from both sides, 5 cancels out, so now you have 8-5, which is 3. Now all you do is take the sign you have, and your answer will be: w<3 because it’s the same thing, just without the equal sign.
Ex. 2.) -3x<12 Remember your method for multiplying or dividing a negative. First, since it is multiplication, you do the opposite. Divide both sides by -3, -3 cancels out, so now you have <12÷-3, which equals -4 (it is -4 because a positive multiplied/divided by a negative, the answer is negative). Now, remembering your method, since you are multiplying/dividing with a negative, you have to change the direction of the sign. So your final answer will be: x>-4
Ex. 3.) Now for example number three, it will be a word problem! (: To see if you understand which way the sign should go, we thought of this problem: At least 20 people in the room. How would you write this problem? Well, if it says at least, then that means 20 or more, but the minimum is 20, you can’t have less than 20. So here is how you would write that: x≥20
![Page 9: Kassie, Natasha, Sheyann, Mario. What do we want you to learn today about inequalities?(: How to use inequalities Why it helps you in math How](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022072010/56649dca5503460f94ac08fa/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
NOW YOU TRY! 1.) y+16<21
2.) x-17<5
3.) x+9>7
4.) y-4>7
5.) y-6<13
6.) x+18<18

CONCLUSION C;What have you learned today?
Let’s review what we learned today, everybody! So, when you divide or multiply with a negative, what do you do?
What is one way of solving an inequality?
If one side is positive five, then you subtract five from both sides.
[]true or []false
