line.

Uchidachi turns to look at shidachi. Shidachi assumes waki-gamae outside the field of vision of

Uchidachi.

Both Kenshi prepare to turn and face each other in order to assume Chu-dan no Kamae.

Uchidachi turns, placing left foot behind as in basic stance. Shidachis right foot must change

position in order to turn as well.

After turning and assuming Chu-dan, Shidachis foot is now behind.

Uchidachi pulls up on Shidachi by steping back one step with left the leading left foot. Shidachi pushes up on

Uchidachi by standing straight up.

In this image, the Kenshi have left the imaginary circle that they could use to return to their starting positon.

This could be avoided by making a small step by each when Shidachi stands.

Uchidachi leads the return to the center position, both kenshi are off the circle. Uchidachi has a much larger

distance to cover (purple arc), which he does in 7 steps. Shidachi completes his arc in 5 small steps.
